Its a short but romantic chapter. I hope you like it. Duh, I’m just sixteen so romance can NEVER be my forte.
Manik’s P.O.V ~
The way she held on to me, the way she said that she’ll miss me… she was only making it harder for me to leave. It’s funny how sometimes you are so attracted towards someone whom you’ve just met. It all happens only in movies… But here, it was happening to me & and my life was no movie.
I didn’t even realize how time flew by; we just kept holding each other for what seemed like forever. Many questions were left unanswered in my head. What were we? Friends? More than that? Do I want her to be more than a friend?
Everything was so… mixed up.
Suddenly, I felt her grip loosening, and then, she was no longer holding me. She hesitantly took a step back, and tucked a few loose strands of her hair behind her ear.
” Hey, stop frowning. We’ll surely stay in contact, okay? ” I said trying to cheer her up. She looked up, as if she didn’t believe me. ” I promise. ” I added in assurance.
Immediately, within a couple of seconds, the corners of her lips turned up, and she flashed her smile that I was craving to see. That smile could seriously light up somebody’s world.
Before I left, I wanted one last thing to do. And that was to make Nandini realize how special she was. Yes, she was special. Not only to me, but I’m sure to everyone. She was beautiful indeed, but it weren’t her looks that were addictive. It was her soul. She was kind and pure. She was just perfect to me…
I didn’t know after how long would I see her, and so, I wanted to make the most of this opportunity. I wanted to make her realize her importance. I wanted to make her feel special and wanted.
” So? I guess this is a goodbye? ” She asked, as her face fell again.
” No. It’s not a goodbye. At least, not so soon. ” I said, while she gave me a confused look. ” You know I’ll be leaving soon. So I was thinking maybe we should spend some time together before I go, right? ”
Her face immediately lit up, as she flashed her smile.
” So come with me. There’s something I wanna show you. ” I said, taking her hand in mine, and leading her to the car. I hopped in after her, and we drove to a place which was very close to my heart.
” Manik, are you sure we haven’t lost our way? We’re out of the city… ” She said.
” No. We’re on the right track. This place is outside the city. ” I said. She nodded, sunk back into the seat.
Nearly an hour long drive, and we were almost here. All the time, Nandini talked endlessly and I just listened to whatever she said. No matter what she said, somethings I didn’t even understand… but yet, I enjoyed her company.
” We’re here. ” I announced, parking the car on the side of the road. She looked out and then back at me.
” We’re in the middle of nowhere. ” She stated. We had parked on the side of the small road. One side was completely closed because of the huge rocks and mountain, but the other side was open. When looked down, revealing the different shades of green.
” I know, now c’mon. ” I said, getting out of the car followed by Nandini.
We walked a little ahead, Nandini curiously looking around her. I couldn’t help but admire how cute she looked. As we walked on, we came across a small path that went downhill. It was rocky, small and slippery due to the rains.
I carefully made my way down. ” Nandini ‘ve careful, it’s- ” I said, turning around, but before I could complete my sentence, she was on the ground.
Yes, she slipped…
She looked up at me with a serious expression, as I returned the same. We just stared at each other for a couple of seconds and burst out laughing.
” Oh God, you’re so clumsy! Come… ” I said, putting my hand out. She grabbed it as I pulled her up.
While she adjusted herself, I couldn’t help but laugh at how she just slipped. ” Don’t laugh! That’s mean… ” She said laughing herself.
” Okay, okay. Now come, we’re here. ” I said, leading her ahead…
Nandini’s P.O.V ~
OH. MY. GOD.
We stood at the edge of the rocks, looking down on the whole city. Yes, I could see the whole city of Mumbai from there. Very tiny buildings, the sea-link… it was just beautiful. The mountains covered in different shades of green were also seen. The trees looked like they were dancing to the music of the wind. The view was just breathtakingly beautiful.
” It’s beautiful… ” I said.
” Isn’t it? This place is very special to me. I was twenty, when I had to play a really important concert in Mumbai. I was so stressed, I felt like running away. But a friend of mine, who stays in Mumbai itself, told me about this place. We came here, and that was it… I never felt more alive, more confident and more happy. ” He said.
I listened to him, and the way he spoke… I could relate to everything he said. He was right. You do feel alive, and confident and happy when you feel the wind on your face, when you can smell the wet soil, and when you can just open your arms wide and take in all the positivity…
” Why did you bring me here? ” I asked, looking back at him.
” You’ll see. Now close your eyes. ” He said. I looked at him for a moment, and did as I was told. He stood behind me, and took my hands in his. My heart was already beating fast, when he touched me…
” Just open your arms, and feel it. Feel the positivity in the air… ” He said.
I opened my arms, and with eyes closed, I stood on the edge of the mountain, feeling the beauty of this place. I never felt more alive…
I opened my eyes, and looked at Manik who stood right behind me, his hands now resting on my waist.
He was smiling from ear to ear. ” What? Do I look stupid? ” I asked.
” You look beautiful, Nandini. ” He said, moving away the few strands of hair from my face. Every time he touched me, I felt chills go down my spine. He had that effect on me…
I didn’t even realize, that we both were slowly leaning in. My hands rested on his chest, feeling is heart beating like a drum. I was in the same condition…
I closed my eyes, and gave up. I knew I was too weak to stop him. I wanted this.
His lips touched mine, freezing me right in the moment. He pulled me closer, deepening the kiss. I kissed him back with the same feeling, and that was when I realized, that it was not just positivity in this place…
There was something more,
And it was love…
