Bound To You – Chapter 12 – Some More Secrets

Hello everyone! I know I have been late with this, and really sorry for that. I also need to apologize for another thing. The update was turning unusually long, so I won’t be revealing the kidnapper in this chapter. I will keep it for the next update, until then, please have patience.

Those of you who have missed the previous update, here is the link :

@Mary Thank you so much for the compliments (^hearts^). It really makes me very happy you know.

@Rukaiya Thank you so much
@Kavya45 Thank you dear
@Niyati12 Thanks a lot
@Pomu Thanks a lot. Haha, accha theek hai. I won’t ask any more questions because I don’t want you to become pagal (hehe)
@Aisha08 Thank you dear
@AarushiSoni Thank you so much dear and I’m so very sorry for not able to fulfill your request of updating this soon. Hopefully, I’ll do better next time,
@Riaa Thank you so much. I tried to depict Anupriya in a good light because she was so negatively portrayed in the drama, that I didn’t like it. I prefer grey characters rather than full blown negative ones.
I didn’t mention this in the FF because I wanted it to remain as a subtle hint, but Riddhima was so scared of encountering Vansh in her life again, that she kind of trained her kids so that they’d be able to defend themselves. But this thing helped her not against Vansh, but against something even dangerous, which is a good thing in fact.
@Ishu Thank you dear
@Jayanthi Thank you so much. Rhea and Reyansh have definitely taken after their mother in terms of spying and escaping from dangers. Don’t worry, I won’t kill of Reyansh, as that would then take a very tragic turn. Plus he is so cute, that I can’t.
Kabir hid something really big about Vansh from Riddhima, which you’ll get to know in this chapter. As for the kidnapper, it will be revealed in the next chapter.
@Mahira Thank you dear
@Jayashree Thanks a lot
@Priyasharshini Thank you dear
@Sree Thank you dear
@Neetu Thanks a lot
@Sahada Thank you so much. Oh so your school is starting again? Best of luck dear, and that was really sweet of you to tell me that (^hearts^). Will miss you in written updates comments section.
I don’t know if you’ll be reading this, but I didn’t mention Ragini and Ishani, because they are not part of the FF. Anupriya is Vansh’s stepmom, Aryan is his stepbrother, and Sia is his stepsister. He had a Dadi too, who unfortunately passed away.
You stay safe too and have a blast back at school!

Vansh leaned against the wall weakly, reminiscing about the moments that he spent with his son.
The first time when he met Reyansh, when he called him ‘scary uncle’, when he acknowledged him as his father, when he gifted him the precious photo album on his birthday…..

“No, you can’t break down, Vansh. You can’t break down in front of your family,” he thought while looking in Riddhima and Rhea’s direction.

On the other hand, Riddhima sat on the bench motionlessly. Her thoughts ran back to that time when six years back, she had had a difficult premature delivery, and the doctor had told her that her that it wouldn’t be possible for them to save her twins….

And today, life had brought her back to the same situation, where she’d have to cry, fight and pray for the well-being of her child.

She felt Rhea slump down her head onto her arm.
“Mumma, I am a very bad girl, right?” she asked innocently. “That is why, God is punishing me.”

Riddhima hugged her tightly.
“No baby, you are the sweetest girl in the world. And God never punishes children, because He loves them a lot and can never see them in pain.
I think God wants to punish me instead, because I’m the one who has been bad all this while!
I always wanted to do the right things, but don’t know why, everything always turned wrong.”

Rhea said, “No, Mumma. You are not bad! You are the best Mumma in the world.”

Riddhima tried to force a smile for her daughter’s sake, but deep inside she knew the bitter truth.

Just then, they heard the temple bell ring in a corner.
“Come, let us go and pray for Reyansh,” said Riddhima holding Rhea’s hand. “Perhaps God might take pity over us, and listen to our prayers.”

Rhea ran towards Vansh, dragging Riddhima behind her.
“Papa, you also come to the temple with us and pray for Reyansh.”

Vansh tried to refuse, but Rhea coerced him.
“Please, Papa. If all three of us pray for him together, then God will surely listen to us.”

Vansh stared at her innocence. She was a little child now, and she had no idea that God never, ever listened to him. Not when he cried for his real mother, not when he cried for his father, and not even when he cried for his Dadi. And he knew that He wouldn’t listen to him now too.

With one hand holding Riddhima’s hand, and the other holding Vansh’s hand, Rhea dragged both her parents into the temple.

“Please God, please save my brother and make him alright. I promise, I will never trouble him again. I will share all of my toys and food with him. I’ll even let everyone love him more than me. Pleeease,” cried Rhea, joining her hands in front of the deity.

Riddhima and Vansh became emotional to see their little daughter in this state. They both caressed her head at the same time, causing their hands to accidentally graze against each other’s. They felt awkward.

“Vansh!” Anupriya came running towards her son and hugged him. “How is Reyansh doing now? Is he fine? What did the doctors say?”

Vansh led Anupriya away from Riddhima and Rhea, to a quiet, secluded corner. He flung his arms around Anupriya and wept like a baby.

“Reyansh….he is serious. I can’t let anything to happen to him. You have no idea, how I’ve been controlling my tears for the past few hours, in the fear that Riddhima and Rhea would break down if they saw me breaking down instead.
I have lost enough in my life, I can’t lose my son, now!”

Anupriya shed tears seeing her son in such a miserable condition. She tried to console him.
“Sshhh! Everything will be okay. God has kept your children away from you for so many years, he cannot snatch them from you yet again!”

Vansh continued to cry, obtaining a kind of relief in his mother’s arms. To the world, she was a mere stepmother, but to him, she was much more than that. She had always stood like a pillar of strength, whenever he felt his hope was slipping away.

All of a sudden through the corner of his eye, Vansh spotted an unknown woman walking away, carrying Rhea in her arms.

Vansh’s fatherly instinct took over him, and he ran to stop them.

“Where the hell do you think you are taking my daughter to?” he growled grabbing that woman’s hand, who looked at him with fear in her eyes.

“Papa, she’s Ronita Mami. She is going to get married to Mamu soon. I told you about her, right,” said Rhea.

Vansh’s expressions softened and he loosened his grip over her.
“I’m sorry.”

Ronita said, “It’s okay. Actually, Roshan wanted to talk something to Di alone, so I thought that I’d take Rhea to the canteen and get her some toffees. That way, her mood would also get uplifted.”

Vansh nodded.

“Do you want me to get something for both of you too?” offered Ronita, looking at the mother-son duo.

“No need for that. You take care of YOUR family, while we take care of OUR’S,” Anupriya snapped at her.

Ronita quietly left from there, while Vansh looked at his mother, feeling uncomfortable due to her rude behaviour.

The doctor came out of the ICU, who asked to meet Reyansh’s parents.

“Reyansh’s vitals have stabilised. He is out of danger now.”

Vansh’s and Riddhima’s joy knew no bounds, and they started crying out of their happiness.

Vansh almost hugged the doctor. “Thank you so much! You don’t know what a great favour you have done upon me. I’ll never forget this.”

The doctor said, “Whatever I did was out of pure duty. So you really don’t need to thank me, Mr. Raisinghania.
But yes, we need to keep Reyansh under observation for 24 hours, so we’ll be shifting him to the ward soon.”

“Can we meet him?” asked Riddhima, still crying.

“Yes, you may. But we had to give Reyansh strong sedatives, so he may gain consciousness only in the morning.”

Rhea started jumping with delight.
“Yay! Reyansh is completely fine. Now I can play as much as I want with him, right?”

Everybody smiled at her antics.

Roshan picked her up in his arms and cuddled her.
“Reyansh will take some time to get alright fully. Until then, he’d have to take complete rest, and you can’t trouble him. Okay princess?”

Vansh’s heart warmed up to see Roshan handle Rhea so well. This was the first time, he was meeting Roshan face-to-face, and he seemed like a nice person afterall.

But Roshan did not have the same opinion about Vansh. His mere presence irked him, but he was helpless to keep his mouth shut because of Rhea. He still had not forgotten the miseries that his Di had to go through because of this evil man. He was so cheap that he had crossed literally all boundaries by pointing fingers at something as pure as a brother-sister relation, and he was never going to forgive him for that.

“Congratulations,” said Riddhima softly coming up to Vansh.

“Congratulations to you, too. Our son got saved,” Vansh replied back.

“Vansh, Rhea is really tired. She has been through so much throughout the evening, she really needs some rest,” said Riddhima.

“Yes. We can’t ignore Rhea’s health for Reyansh,” agreed Vansh. “Riddhima, why don’t you and Rhea head back home while I stay back in the hospital?”

“Wait. I am not going anywhere. I am Reyansh’s mother and he needs me the most. I can’t leave him in this condition,” said Riddhima.

“Don’t be stupid. I can’t leave you and Reyansh to yourselves. I am not going anywhere, too,” argued Vansh.
“Let’s do one thing. I’ll send Rhea along with Mom and Angre back to our house. I hope that would be fine with you.”

“I’m sorry, but I won’t send my daughter to your house in your absence. I can’t take that big of a risk,” snapped Riddhima.

Vansh turned angry. “What do you mean by that? Are you trying to imply that my family is careless and cannot take care of Rhea?”

“Listen, you can think of it as my maternal instinct or my delusion, but I find it unsafe to send Rhea to your house in either of our presence. The kidnappers are still on the loose, what if they strike again?”

“So what do we do then? Rhea can’t stay in the hospital, and you aren’t agreeing to any of my suggestions,” said Vansh irritatedly.

Riddhima said after a while, “We can send Rhea along with Roshan to his house for the night.”

Vansh snortled. “House? Which house are you talking about? Did you even forget the difference between a hotel and a house?”

“Di is talking about that house which my company has rented out to me,” said Roshan coming up from behind. “Did you think that you’ll snatch our house from us, and we’ll remain homeless throughout our lives? Fortunately, not all people are heartless.”

Vansh glared at him. “Will this man be able to take care of my daughter for the whole night? I don’t think so.”

“Why not? I was the first one to hold Rhea and Reyansh in my arms when they were born, as Di was still unconscious at that time,” protested Roshan.

Vansh was taken aback to hear this. Riddhima, and unconscious at the time of her delivery?

“Roshan, if Rhea stays with you, I will not be having any worries,” said Riddhima.

Roshan picked up a sleeping Rhea in his arms.
“If you need anything, just call me up. And if not, at least call up Kabir.”

Vansh was hit with pangs of jealousy as soon as he heard Kabir’s name.
“You don’t have to worry about her. If she needs anything, I’m there around.”

“You being around Di, is itself my biggest concern,” said Roshan coolly.
He soon left, taking Rhea along with him.

Vansh held Riddhima’s hand.
“You were unconscious at the time of your delivery, but why?” he asked concerned.

“Because I underwent a Caesarean section,” Riddhima replied as if it was no big deal.

“WHY?” he asked.

Riddhima became irritated and freed her hand from his grip.
“Right now, I am worried for Reyansh, and here you are, busy bugging me with questions from centuries ago.”

Before she could know it, she was pinned against the wall, and Vansh was standing very close to her. So close, that she could feel his breath on herself.

Looking straight into her eyes, Vansh said in his signature dangerous tone, “I am Rhea’s and Reyansh’s father. I have all rights to know about their birth history. You’ve snatched enough of my fatherly rights from me, but I won’t allow you to do the same this time, too.”

Riddhima looked at him defeated.
“Fine, what is it that you want to know?”

“Everything about your pregnancy and delivery,” said Vansh, his hold still very firm on her.

Riddhima started narrating, “I had a complicated pregnancy. My doctor had already warned me that anything could happen anytime.
Towards my eight month of pregnancy, the doctor said that both the babies were in distress, and an emergency Cesarean section had to be done.
After the delivery too, both Rhea and Reyansh were serious and placed in the ICU for over a month.
As for Rhea, she has always been a comparatively weaker child, and she has been through quite a few health problems in her early childhood. But thankfully, she is doing much better than before.”

Riddhima jerked off his hands and said, “Are you happy now? Satisfied? Now let me go because my son needs me.”

She pushed her way out, while Vansh just stood there feeling upset and guilty at the same time.

In spite of Riddhima’s betrayal, he regretted not being with her in such a crucial time. She had not only been carrying twins, but she also had other complications as well.

Moreover, she had no elder person in her family whom she could turn to for help. Roshan must have been quite young at that time to give her any kind of moral or emotional support. How had she managed all of that on her own?

With the same feelings surrounding him, Vansh entered Reyansh’s room. Reyansh was lying on the bed, with multiple attachments placed to his body.

Riddhima on the other hand dozed off in a chair close to Reyansh’s bed, with her hand tightly holding Reyansh’s hand, even in deep sleep.

Vansh made himself comfortable on the couch in the corner.

He remembered his and Riddhima’s first wedding night, when Riddhima had allowed him to take the bed while she took the couch.

And today she took the chair, leaving the couch to him.

He thought, “She might not have been a good wife and a good daughter-in-law. But she is a damn good mother, and there’s no denying that.”

Reyansh opened his eyes with a lot of difficulty. He found himself in an unfamiliar setting, with multiple attachments to his body, and his leg hurt like hell.

“Mumma, mumma!” he let out a soft whimper.
He relaxed as soon as he felt the familiar touch of his mother against his face.

“Reyansh, I’m right beside you, baby,” Riddhima said as softly as possible.
“I’m so glad to see you awake. To be honest, I really missed my Reyansh a lot.” Saying this, she gently kissed the top of his forehead.

“Where is Rhea? Is she fine?” he asked getting worried.

Riddhima’s chest swelled up in pride. Her Reyansh, the sweetest and the mst caring boy ever. He himself was in so much pain right now, but still he was so worried for his sister.

“She is absolutely fine. She is at home with Mamu,” said Riddhima. “You are in a hospital right now because you had got hurt on your foot. But soon, we will also be heading home, along with you.”

She helped Reyansh sit up, supporting him against some pillows.

Riddhima’s glance fell on Vansh, who was sleeping peacefully on the couch, as if there was no tomorrow.
She scrunched up her nose in contempt to see Vansh’s blanket fallen on the floor.

“This man I tell you,” she grumbled to herself.

She went up to him, and covered him back with the blanket. She was about to leave, when Vansh caught her hand.

“Don’t leave,” he mumbled in his sleep.

Riddhima felt annoyed and tried hard to free her hand from her grip, when all of a sudden, he gave a hard tug, and she landed straight on top of him.

“Vansh! What are you doing? Leave me!” said Riddhima.

But Vansh was still asleep and his grip on her was too strong. He caressed her face and tried to bring it closer to his, when Riddhima pinched him hard.

“Aaahhh!” Vansh woke up with a start. He was surprised to find Riddhima right on top of him. She soon got up and steadied herself.

Reyansh laughed on seeing this.

Vansh rubbed his hand where she had pinched. “Are you a woman or some wild cat?”

“And are you a man or a….” Riddhima lowered her voice so that Reyansh could not hear her. “A roadside lecher?”

“I should be calling you that,” said Vansh with his eyes half closed. “What were you doing in that compromising position? Did you want to take undue advantage of me while I was fast asleep?”

Riddhima was horrified at his accusations.
“Excuse me! But it was you who pulled me on top of you. I was just trying to help you out, but, but….you are such a shameless man to do all these sorts of things in front of a young child.”

“Oh, so the problem is that I did in front of the child. Had there been no one around, you wouldn’t have had much problem, eh?” teased Vansh.

“Shut up Vansh!”

Vansh gently pushed Riddhima aside, and went to meet his son.
“Hey Reyansh you are awake! Why did no one inform me yet?”

He gave him a long kiss.
“Did you sleep well, sweetheart?”

“Yes,” said Riddhima absentmindedly.

Vansh was visibly amused. “Riddhima, why do you think everything revolves around you? I was talking to Reyansh, not you. Besides, I’m not a fool to call you as ‘sweetheart’!”

Riddhima started fuming. “But you know what, you definitely are a fool. That is why you used to call me ‘sweetheart‘ back in those days.”

Reyansh’s eyes gleamed up. “Papa used to call you ‘sweetheart‘ before? Wow! Why doesn’t he do that anymore?”

Vansh and Riddhima stared at each other, reminiscing their past moments.

Vansh cleared his throat to end the uncomfortableness.
“Reyansh must be feeling hungry. What should I get him?”

“The doctor advised us to give him something light. I think juice would be fine,” she said.

“And what do I get you, Madame?” asked Vansh.

“Uhm…nothing as of now. I’ll take care of that myself,” she replied.

Vansh sighed. “Riddhima, I know we’ve lots of differences and problems between us. But in spite of that, you are bound to me, and I am bound to you. You might like it or not, but we share the bond of being parents to our two lovely children. So please, don’t be so formal with me.”

“So, should I bring you some coffee then?” Vansh asked after sometime.

“Fine with me,” said Riddhima. “Till then, I’ll get Reyansh freshened up.”
______________________________________

When Vansh returned back from the canteen with some juice, coffee and sandwiches, he found Roshan and Rhea had come along to pay Reyansh a visit. But there was one other person too, who came along, who made Vansh’s blood boil with anger.
It was Kabir.

“Kabir Uncle, please find those bad men who troubled me and Reyansh, and get them punished,” said Rhea.

“Of course, my sweetie, I will definitely teach those people a lesson who tried to mess up with my Reyansh and Rhea,” said Kabir making her sit on his lap.

“How dare he call my children as ‘his’?” Vansh thought angrily.

He wanted to confront him then and there, but he didn’t want to create any scene in front of the kids.

Out of the blue, Kabir started cracking a joke, and everyone burst out laughing, including Riddhima.

“What is so funny in that? She never laughed in this manner at my jokes, but is doing the same for Kabir?” Vansh thought burning down with jealousy.

“Okay. I have to go now. But Riddhima, if you need anything, remember I’m just a phone call away,” said Kabir. “Love you Reyansh and Rhea!” He gave them a kiss each.

“Love you too Kabir Uncle!” said both the kids in unison.

Vansh had had enough of all this. He couldn’t bear the thought of any random and unrelated man getting way too close to his children, and…and even Riddhima, for that matter of fact. He decided to confront Kabir for that.
______________________________________

Riddhima realised that Kabir had left his wallet in the room itself.

“I need to return it to him before he leaves the hospital,” she said to herself.

She ran to the parking lot hurriedly, in a bid to find him. When she reached there, she saw Vansh and Kabir talking, no, quarrelling with each other.

Without getting noticed by them, she sneaked closer to them, and hid herself behind a nearby pillar.

“I’m giving you the last warning, Kabir. Stay away from my children, from my family,” said Vansh sternly.

“Rhea and Reyansh are not only your children. But they are also equally Riddhima’s. So I will come to meet them whenever I want, and nobody can stop me,” argued Kabir.

Vansh said, “Thank the lord that I’m even giving you a warning. Had someone else been in your place, I’d have ripped him apart for getting too friendly with my wife.”

“Wife? You mean ex-wife, right?” taunted Kabir. “And what else I can expect from you? You are still the same self-centred, narcissistic Vansh I knew as my best friend many years back.”

Riddhima stood there shocked. Vansh and Kabir used to be best friends some time back? How come she did not know this? How dare Kabir not disclose such an important information to her?

“I agree I am narcissistic and self-obsessed, and I have no qualms in accepting that,” laughed Vansh. “As far as our old friendship is concerned, many a times, we need to forsake many such friendships to achieve great luxuries in life.
Anyways, it is said that even a subtle hint is enough for a smart person, and you I assume, are quite smart enough. So back off, before it is too late!”

Saying this, Vansh headed inside the hospital.

Kabir was about to sit in his car, when Riddhima came out of nowhere, and shut the door of the car before he could sit inside.

“What’s the matter, Riddhima?” he asked.

She shouted at him, “How could you Kabir? How could you hide such a huge truth from me? You and Vansg were once best friends? You sent me on this dangerous mission, without even caring to tell me this!”

Kabir turned pale. He understood that Riddhima might have eavesdropped upon his and Vansh’s conversation.

“I can explain….”

“I always thought that you cared for me, but no, you don’t even give a damn! I staked my whole life for this stupid mission and you go around hiding such big matters from me….”

“I really, really do care for you, Riddhima,” said Kabir. “But there was an important reason behind me hiding this fact from you. But before that, you need to first listen to the backstory.”

Kabir took Riddhima’s silence as a ‘yes’, and started off, with a lost expression on his face.

“I always had one dream since childhood, that is to serve in the army. That’s why, as soon as I completed my graduation, I applied for the CDS exam, and cleared it with flying colours. I soon got admitted into Indian Military Academy (IMA), as Cadet Kabir Sharma, batch 2009. My roommate, he was the topper of our batch. And his name was….. Cadet Vansh Raisinghania.”

Riddhima could not believe what she had just heard.
“Vansh was in the army before joining the Mafia?” she asked, her voice still shaking.

Kabir continued, “Yes. Initially I used to feel jealous of him. Because he was the best at everything he did. Best at shooting, best in marathon, best in written exams, you literally name it. I don’t even know what that man was made up of, and how he was so good.

But soon, as we spent more time with each other, we grew close, and soon turned into the best of friends. We did everything that two besties did together, we used to share drinks, discuss about girls, sneak out of the hostel at night to go out clubbing. I think those two years of training were the best years of our life.

Soon our training came towards an end, and Vansh won the award for the Best Cadet of Batch 2009. I was genuinely happy for him. I secured the second place.
All our trainers were damn sure that Vansh would achieve great milestones in his life and would make our country proud. But how wrong they were….

Soon, all of us passed out as Lieutenants, and we were assigned to our respective postings. Since me and Vansh were posted in different places, we could not keep much touch with each other.

A few months into the posting, I received the most shocking news of my life from one of our common batchmates that Vansh had been suspended for wrongly firing at a civilian and thus killing him to death.

Mistakes are part and parcel of human life, and I was ready to give Vansh the benefit of doubt, but I was stunned when he said that he hadn’t shot him by mistake, but rather on purpose!
Apparently, that civilian had started cussing at him, and Vansh not able to control himself, fired at him in a fit of rage. He even told me that whoever tried to mess with him or get in his way, he’d do the same thing to that person too.
When the Indian Army suspended him, he took all of that too upon his ego, and decided that he’d do everything within his capability to teach the Army a lesson, even if that meant that he had to work against the country!

I realized something that day. Even though Vansh was a very able army officer, but his love for himself was much more than the love for his country. That was the reason for his downfall.

After that incident, I broke all ties with him, and started concentrating on my career. Intelligence always fascinated me, so I soon applied in Indian Intelligence Bureau, and with God’s grace and my hard work, got recruited there.

On the other hand, we began to hear rumours of a new upcoming kingpin, creating havoc in the Mafia world. He was known by the alias, Bulldog. In a little while, we got to know that Bulldog was none other than Vansh Raisinghania himself. As soon as he came to power, Mumbai’s situation worsened. Bomb attacks became common and so did all other sorts of illegal activities.

One fine day, AK Ranaut, the Chief of Indian Intelligence Bureau, called me to his office. He wanted to get Vansh arrested for his crimes. But it wasn’t an easy job. He had lot of inside help and many contacts, so we needed to chalk out an elaborate plan. Knowing that I was Vansh’s ex-friend and therefore knew him very well, Ranaut Sir appointed me to start working on this case.

I knew Vansh had aweakness for beautiful women. And when I found you giving a wonderful speech outside an orphanage on patriotism, I was awestruck by your beauty, and knewthat you’d be the perfect girl for this job. And the rest of the story, you know all about it.”

Riddhima looked on for sometime, still caught in shock.
“Why didn’t you tell this all to me before?”

“Because I was ashamed of what Vansh did! He was a black stain on the Army. We army officers already have such a bad reputation that we fire on innocent civilians, rape women, and participate in bribery and extortions. Tell me Riddhima, would you have been able to show the same amount of trust on me, had I told you about this corrupt Army officer who turned into a Don? You wouldn’t.
Plus this information wasn’t very important so I….”

Riddhima stopped him mid-way. “I thought I could trust you, but I’m sorry. I can’t anymore. Putting my entire life at stake, the least that I could expect from you was to be completely transparent with me.”
Saying this, she left from there ignoring Kabir’s pleas.

Precap:

The police reveal the kidnapper in front of everyone.
