Bound To You (Book Two) – Prologue

Hello everyone! As I had promised, I’m here with the sequel of ‘Bound To You’. Happy reading!

It was pitch dark all around, and the only light came from the dimly shining moon above.

In spite of the eerie darkness surrounding him, he was able to find his way around with a lot of ease. It seemed like he had treaded upon this path not once or twice, but ample number of times. And now, he literally knew this way by-heart.

His quick, hurried steps were hinting towards an undisclosed urgency. Every now and then, he kept peering over his shoulder to make sure no one was watching him.

After a walk of about twenty minutes, he reached a large boulder. Applying his maximum strength, he pushed the boulder away, revealing a secret tunnel behind it.

After making sure that he placed the boulder back in it’s original place, he started walking ahead through the tunnel. With no fear of being watched now, he switched on his flashlight.

The previous night it had rained and that is why there was water reaching up to his calf muscles. One or two rats scurried past him, but other than that, there was no other living being in and around here, he was confident about that.

The tunnel led to his secret hideout. It had a computer system in the corner, and few important files and notes right next to it. In the corner, there were all sorts of weapons and mechanic tools.

He thanked his stars when he found that in spite of the rains, the hideout was relatively drier and nothing was damaged.

He opened the password-protected computer and randomly browsed here and there. He finally found the file he was looking for and double clicked on it. As soon as he did that, a voice recording started playing. He smiled slyly when he remembered how he had placed an untraceable bug in one of his enemies’ phone.

When he finished hearing the voice recording, he was left racking his brains. He was an expert at foreign as well as local languages. But the language that the two men in this particular recording had spoken in, sounded absolutely unknown and peculiar to him.

He realized that these men were  smart like hell, and had been conversing to each other in some secret code.

For the next half-an-hour or so, he kept trying different methods to decode the message. After a while, as if miraculously it clicked him. He rearranged the message on a piece of paper and that’s when everything fit into pieces.

A very large plotting was going on. And he had to pass this vital information on, as soon as possible.

Suddenly, he heard the creak of the boulder being moved. Someone had found out this place and was about to nab him.

From the quiet but audible footsteps that echoed throughout the place, he was sure that there was an entire gang of men to catch him.

Seven minutes. It would take a mere seven minutes for the enemies to walk through the entire length of the tunnel, reach the hideout and find him. In short, he had only seven minutes to escape from here. Out of which, fifteen seconds had already passed.

But more than himself, he was worried about maintaining confidentiality of his work. He couldn’t let any of the vital information to be gained by his enemies.

With one swift blow, he threw the computer onto the floor, shattering it into numerous pieces. Next he took a matchstick and lit the important papers on fire. He had destroyed all the important evidences that could be misused by the enemies.

He glanced at his watch. Three minutes left.

Thankfully, this cave had another exit that he himself had created for use in such emergency situations. Grabbing a few weapons as part of defence, he escaped out of the hideout into open air.

Once outside, he began running through the jungle as fast as his feet could take him.

“They now know about my real identity. They’ll definitely try to kill me. Before they do that, I must meet him and inform him about what these people are plotting about,” he thought. “I don’t have much time left.”

A shriek escaped his mouth when his feet gave way and he fell down into a very deep pit.

He hurt his back badly, but that didn’t matter anymore. He had been caught and there was no way out.

He raised his head when he saw a group of rogue looking men glancing down at him from above and laughing menacingly.

“You blo*dy betrayer! What did you think that you’ll play games with us and we’ll never come to know of it? As soon as we got to know your real identity, we started doing our work. On one side we sent our men to follow your trail using our specially trained Dobermann, and on the side, we dug out deep traps throughout the forest.”

He closed his eyes and sighed when he realized that everything was over. He himself didn’t know what was going to happen with him. Will they kill him off instantly, give him a long and painful death or even worse, keep him alive and severely torture him?

He was trying to mentally prepare himself for the worst outcome, but his body was giving a completely different reaction. It was literally shivering under the effect of adrenaline.

Soon, a few men descended down into the pit using a long rope. Before he could know it, one of the men rammed the butt of his gun onto his head.

He screamed with the jolt of pain and then, everything became black.
