Bigg Boss fame Abhinav Shukla acquires a new skill set; becomes a certified mountaineer

Abhinav Shukla who rose to fame with his stint in Bigg Boss 13 loves to hike and climb mountains. The actor recently completed a certificate course in mountaineering.

Abhinav talked about it during a recent interview and shared that he is already making plans for his next summit. He said, “I was planning on climbing a 7,000-metre peak this season, but a basic mountaineering course is a prerequisite for it. I always wished to learn the skills involved in mountaineering professionally and that’s why I enrolled in a mountaineering certificate course. It was a 28-day course. One can easily get fooled by the term ‘basic’, but completing it is no mean feat. Many underestimate the fitness and determination required to complete the course, which requires great fitness levels. The aspirant has to carry a 25-kg backpack for days covering 100 km at an altitude of 4,000-5,000 metres. I had to learn skills like rappelling, jumaring, front-pointing, rescue, etc.”

Abhinav further added, “Not that I have earned a certificate with an A-grade, I am brimming with more confidence for my future climbs. I plan to attempt a 7,000-metre peak between June and August and subsequently, an 8,000-plus.”

The actor had to let go of a few projects while he was following his passion for mountaineering. He said, “I did let go of three projects and Rubina’s plan for my birthday on September 27, which were quite grand, as it was my 40th. So, one can understand my determination to do this course and the amount of passion I have for climbing.”

Talking about his plans for his profession’s future, he said, “I want to do performance-oriented roles, but all we get cast for these days is for our popularity on social media and not for our acting skills. It’s a reality and there is no option but to accept it. Motivational speakers, comedians, and dancers have more work these days than actors. Even if the tide is against us at the moment, I am going to stick to my guns,” he concludes.
