BHOOTU SEASON 2 – A SYNONIM FOR CATASTROPHE!!!

A couple of weeks ago Zee TV’s BHOOTU got revamped as the creators wanted to do some experiment & turn it into a kids’ show. For someone who loved Season 1 & was a big PiChi lover, this was a horrible move. But creators have their right to shape up their story & not always we get what we want. So I resorted to WU & thought, If the storyline seems good, I’ll watch it.

But after reading the WU, I think it’s not Anandita who needs treatment but the writer himself.

I wasn’t really a big fan of hindi serials. In fact, after watching Yeh Hai Mohabbatein & Naamkaran’s downfall, I had decided to never watch another hindi serial again. But one day somehow I watched a clip of Bhootu in Youtube & later read its’ review in this forum.

I started watching this show & immediately fall in love with it.

But with Season 2, the writer has destroyed his own creation.

Everything that was fresh in Season 1, has been destroyed in Season 2.

The best things about Season 1 were Pihu’s innocence, her love for her mother, the contrasting personality of Anandita & Suchi & most importantly the development of PiChi’s relation. While almost 95% shows portray their leads as selfless & kid friendly, Suchi might have been the first lead who actually hated kids. While Anandita was calm & polite, Suchi was short tempered. Yet they both had a good relationship. Anandita was a good boss & Suchi admired her for friendly nature. The way step by step Suchi’s affection for Pihu grew & she finally became a mother – was endearing.

Season 1 actually portrayed Pihu as a kid.  The kid was innocent & she never planned date for her parents or played the cupid or gave them tips on how to romance. She simply wanted to meet her mom & was very much possessive about Suchi.

That season had a perfect blend of romance & suspense. Not just the protagonists, even the antagonist was outstanding in her portrayal. As soon as the show reached its’ saturation point, instead of giving it a proper ending the writer decided to prolong it & destroyed the essence.

As a viewer, I personally believe, the performance of an actor largely depends on the script & direction. Akanksha Chamola was wonderful as a grieving mother in Season 1. While after a certain point it became kind of irritating to watch her cry all the time, one could also understand that the strong lady had completely broken down after her kid’s untimely death & husband’s betrayal.

But now as a mentally unstable person, she is doing a lousy job. I don’t blame her completely as her character has been written very poorly. Her integrity is completely lost. She screams at top of her voice & romances with a guy just because he helped her a few times! Seriously!!! The excuse behind revamping was there was too much romance. Then why the hell Anandita is openly romancing??? And Pihu’s innocence is completely lost. Now she is playing Anandita’s mom & planning to get rid of the criminals. Which 7 years old does that? Last but not the least – the doppleganger twist. There should be limit guys. What will you show next? Subodh’s ghost emerging to introduce a love triangle or his mother’s ghost for a Saas-Bahu tadka?

If you don’t know how to continue a story then why not finish that? Even we viewers don’t want to watch a show without substance. A mini-series with proper story & ending is far better than continuous plotting.

This show better wrap up ASAP than destroying the magic the casts of Season 1 created with their beautiful performance.
