Anupamaa fame Viraj Kapoor’s Mumbai Odyssey: From Reluctant Relocation to Pursuing His Acting Dreams

Actor Viraj Kapoor, known for his role as Romil Kapadia in the popular TV show “Anupamaa,” reflects on his remarkable journey into the world of acting. Originally from Chandigarh, Viraj made the bold move to Mumbai to pursue his passion for acting, and he shares the story of his path to stardom.

Recalling the early days of his journey in a recent interview, Viraj reveals, “I was born in Chandigarh, and I made my acting debut at the tender age of seven. However, my first project was shot in Chandigarh itself. A couple of years later, my family and I relocated to Mumbai. At that time, I was quite young and not particularly thrilled about moving to Mumbai because I missed my friends and extended family back home. Nevertheless, my lifelong dream was to pursue acting, and my parents believed that Mumbai was the best place to turn that dream into reality. I’m truly grateful to them for bringing me here. We used to visit Mumbai for work earlier, but in 2016, we made the decision to settle here permanently.”

Expressing his aspirations as an actor, Viraj asserts, “I have grand plans for my career in acting, and I believe this is just the beginning for me. My goal is to become a versatile actor, and I am committed to working diligently to achieve that. My utmost desire is to consistently entertain the audience.”

Viraj made his entry into the show “Anupamaa” in July 2023, portraying the character of Ankush Kapadia’s illegitimate son. He candidly admits that initially, he was nervous about joining the cast of an established show. He shares, “Today, I share a strong bond with everyone on the set. However, a few months ago, when I was auditioning for this show, I felt quite nervous because it is a well-established series. Thankfully, people have been appreciating my performance and embracing my character, Romil. Being a part of this show has truly been a blessing for my career.”
