Anupamaa fame Aashish Mehrotra aka Toshu on how India’s Next Superstar was a turning point for him
Aashish Mehrotra who rose to fame with his role as Paritosh aka Toshu in Anupamaa is currently nailing his skills in the show. During a recent interview with ETimes TV, the actor talked about his turning point with the reality show India’s Next Superstar. He shared that he considers himself fortunate for being able to make his father meet Karan Johar and assure him that he is doing well in his acting career.
Aashish shared, “I genuinely discovered myself in India’s Next Superstar. I evolved as a performer, artist, dancer, and action actor and I did a lot with that show. I was a runner up but I got an opportunity to meet such stalwarts from the Industry. Mahesh Bhatt sir, Rohit Shetty, and Karan Johar were my mentors. That show gave me a priceless memory that no other show can give me. I was able to call my parents on stage and all these stalwarts, Karan sir, and Rohit sir know my parents and me. Not everybody in this Industry gets that chance and I am happy that I got a chance to assure my dad that I am doing well in my career before he passed away. The show and these moments are very close to me.”
Talking about his turning point, Aashish said, “India’s Next Superstar when I didn’t win it. It was heartbreaking for me and I was underground for six months and I had stopped acting. I had lost faith in myself, if you have seen the show you would know what I am talking about. It was not about the victory but the better things I expected. That phase made me much stronger and helped me come back on my feet and I am happy to come this far from it.”
Hinting at his character’s growth in Anupamaa, the actor shared, “If I don’t have more shades to show for Toshu, then you will not find Toshu onscreen. So let’s see how many more shades are left for Toshu to explore. Apart from that I do want to explore new facets which you would come to know shortly.”
