Once there lived an old man in a village taking care of his big farm; he was all alone; there wasn’t anyone to look after him. In his farm there was a huge crowd of animals. Many kinds;- cute chickens, gorgeous looking horses, cute puppies and dogs, wooly goats and much more.
Although he was alone the village wasn’t. Children were every where. If one starts walking along the road (specially in evening) he or she will be able to count the little heads with which that person would forget everything. Almost everything.
The old man stayed alone in his farm but was a good and kind hearted one. He allowed all the children to do anything in the farm. He didn’t shout or get angry for their jokes. So for all the children this farm was like a paradise.
When children come to his garden in the very morning he is seen watering his grains. When the children play with the puppies the old man was feeding his other animals. When children go back to their home the old man was still working; cleaning his garden.

For one child this was a puzzle. ‘’Why does he always work?‘‘ he thought. He wished that his other friends would get the same problem. But they didn’t seem to be troubled by it. Years and years passed away with the same question in his mind. Yet he didn’t get the answer from anyone; neither mom nor dad knew the answer.
Now the old man has become very old that he’s unable to do things by himself. But the other villagers were king enough to help his work. His farm was too rather old; There were only few animals ;not more than one or two hens and a horse were still living.

One day the boy got to know from his mom that; the old man is not in a good health. He asked ‘Mom , what has happened to him?’ ‘I don’t know correctly son, but I’m afraid that he won’t live for a long time further.’ The boy felt sad. ‘I should have asked this question before. But why not now?’ He quickly got ready and went to the old man’s house to see him.
His neighbor was helping the old man to have the dinner. He went closer to him, bent near him and asked ‘Grandfather, why did you always work when you were in good health?’ he finally asked.
And the old man could hardly talk because he was too weak. He merely said with a low voice ‘ My child, life is not to be wasted without working nor to be wasted by just working. Life is to work without wasting the valuable time you get. Valuable time doesn’t only means the young ages but the time you spend with your loving ones and the time you are able to work and stay with them. My loving ones were the animals who lived with me and so I worked without wasting the valuable time I got in my life.’
The boy felt light at heart after the old man’s answer. After waiting for so many years, finally he got the answer. He went home and because it was night went straight in to bed after changing his clothes and having dinner.
In the next day he was awakened by his mom’s voice ‘Son wake up quickly. We must help others for the funeral. As I told you yesterday the old man didn’t live long.’

The End
