Everyone asks Amita if there is some problem at Amit’s office. Amita agrees saying he has some urgent work to do. Amit enters and everyone asks him if all is well. Amit replies yes his car’s battery broke down so he has sent it for repair. All speak in chorus car’s battery? He looks at them and then at Amita. He nods back in a yes. Kajal tells him that Ammu told them he had some work at office. Amit looks at her and utters office. Varsha manages the situation and says she would have thought it must be the reason for it. Ammu’s dada ji too tells them to let him breathe a sigh of relief. He asks Varsha to get tea for Amit.
Amit is speaking on phone with some uncle (most probably with Kajal’s dad). He says your cheque will be cleared soon. I wanted to tell you. Just then Amita walks
Ammu asks him if he is done with phone calls. If not, he can continue. She will wait. She is waiting since morning already. He tells her he was a little busy. She can say it now. Amita says you don’t understand how tough it is to hide the truth. He says when all is well then why is she saying all this. She replies it would be well for you not for me. You know how hard I try to hide things from my parents? But you cancelled your Surat trip and dint inform me once. Its not important to tell me right? You knew Baa was unwell and I was taking care of her since morning and you came here directly. You dint think you could tell me once? He asks her to hear him out. But Ammu says let me speak today. You haven’t even looked at me once since I came home. You are only busy in your phone calls and then you left all of a sudden. I even called you but you disconnected all my calls. She becomes tearful. I lied to everyone that you are in office but you came and ruined it all. You proved me a liar in front of my own family members. Only your business and your own life holds importance for you and no one else.
Amit tries to say something but she doesn’t let him speak. I AM NOT FINISHED YET (my my!!). till when will I hide why you are going to US. How long will I show it to them that it doesn’t matter to me? The truth is – it does matter to me. It does. Do you even realise how difficult it is to pretend or lie in front of your own family? It isn’t easy. I cant look at them eye to eye. You don’t even know what they will feel when they will get to know that our relation is fake. It seems my whole life is a lie. It has become some joke. I cant take it anymore.
He is annoyed and replies I too am tired to put up this drama but things will be fine once he leaves for the US. We both will be on our own after that. He leaves annoyed while she tries to make him stop but in vain.
Varsha stops her and asks if Amit Kumar left. She notices her upset mood. Ammu slowly starts sharing her worries with her mother. I am trying a lot but I am unable to handle my and Amit’s relation. Whenever I try to do something good, opposite happens. I am scared will be we always strangers for each other. Varsha very sweetly says, from where I can see you both, I am looking at Hemant and Varsha 26 years back. We were like you only.
Ammu says no, we are way too different from each other. We have nothing that makes this relation a successful relationship. She goes to the Kanha idol. Varsha comes after her and fondles her hairs.
How does a relation become successful? You had seen a dream in your childhood about your relation; it seems you are forgetting that dream. There is not just one way to make things work. It is a long journey and there are different routes to reach to the destination. Similarly, you and Amit Kumar too have to find your way to make things work. But that can be done only after you and Amit start trusting each other. Ammu replies I do. He is a very good human being. But I don’t think he cares about my feelings.
Varsha explains to her. there are different ways to show love. your dad shows your love my making boondi ka ladoo for me while I make karele ki sabzi for him to keep his sugar in control. Similarly, Amit’s way is different too. Maybe you do not understand it. She shows her a piece of broken bangle. This is one piece of the whole bangle and is of no use. She fixes the other. She says, two things together make one complete. Ammu looks at the bangle. Varsha continues, join your heart with his heart. If you step back then both hearts will break.
Hemant joins them saying and I cant see such a heart of gold breaking down. Varsha agrees saying our Ammu’s heart is of gold. Hemant says he isn’t talking about Amita but of Amit. Today I am feeling so proud of the fact that he is our son-in-law. Both Varsha and Ammu wonder. Ammu asks him to explain. Hemant tells her about Kajal’s dad problem and how Amit gave him a cheque to get Kajal’s marriage done. Varsha be becomes emotional. Amita recalls her harsh words that she had said to Amit sometime back. You haven’t even looked at me once since I came home. You are only busy in your phone calls and then you left all of a sudden. I even called you but you disconnected all my calls. I lied to everyone that you are in office but you came and ruined it all. You proved me a liar in front of my own family members. Only your business and your own life holds importance for you and no one else.
Ammu says is that why he had gone out without telling anyone? But why dint he tell it? Hemant explains to her because he isn’t like hypocrites who boast about their good deeds in front of everyone. Today I realised I couldn’t understand him ever. The person who can do so much for someone else’s daughter how much would ha care about my daughter (his wife). I can say with trust this Amita’s Amit wont let tears come in my Ammu’s eyes ever. Ammu smiles happily.

Ammu is outside in the lawn. She thinks there is something between me and Amit for sure which I cant understand. Neither of us has said anything but my heart says that there is something. If he goes to US then my hopes too will go away. She sits on the bench and looks at the bangle. Varsha’s words echo in her mind. This is one piece of the whole bangle and is of no use. She fixes the other. She says, two things together make one complete. Ammu looks at the bangle. Varsha continues, join your heart with his heart. If you step back then both hearts will break. Lightning strikes. Amit comes out and asks her to come inside as the weather isn’t good. She nods smiling. After he leaves she wonders why she dint answer Amit back when he scolded me. She smiles.
It starts raining. She enjoys rain standing in the balcony and recalls various times when Amit had showed concern for her. the suhagraat incident; when she had fallen from the stairs and he was upset because she got hurt; the fast he kept on the day of the puja for her; Tina’s remarks about taking the trophy along with him to the US to remember he has a wife and Amit’s prompt reply. Chan chan from Munnabhai MBBS breaks in in the background. She has flashes of Amit lending a hand to support her (at home, movie theatre, bed sheet spread scene and how he got ice cream for her to brighten her mood).
Ammu thinks whatever unsaid is between us I would understand it very soon. I will start it by apologizing to you for today. She enjoys some more rain.

Ammu comes inside drying her hair and finds Amit already asleep. She speaks aloud. I wanted to apologize to you. Whatever I said or happened in the morning I am sorry about it. But what could I do you dint tell me anything.
Because of the wind the windows open and Amit’s quilt gets blown off somewhat. She goes to close the window. Next she comes to adjust the quilt on him and he turns in sleep. He puts a hand at her and she looks at him startled. She holds on to his hand (to remove it but keeps holding on to it). She smiles. What is happening to me? What it this different feeling inside me?
