Chapter 1
Karthik asked Naira if she believed in love?
Naira looked at him and said,”Nope. Love is just not for me. I have stayed away from my mumma due to a missunderstanding. We loved each other yet our fates had distance. You know when I was just a small kid I was stalked by a boy. Also I was abducted by a gang of men who used to sell girls overseas. I have just had these events in my life that made me think maybe I don’t deserve love. ”
Karthik was shocked. He didn’t know what to say to that. I mean, how do you reply when your best friend tells you that she was stalked at a young age and also almost sold out to another country. He knew about naira staying away from her home for 10 years due to a misunderstanding with her mom but he didn’t know that her childhood was so troubled.
Thinking that the best would be to stay silent, he didn’t reply and let the sudden quiet linger on. He knew Naira wanted to be left alone at that moment. So he just looked up at the star studded sky. He knew about naira being in self doubt that she didn’t deserve any love that she was getting. whether it be from her friends or her family. He also knew that naira thought that she was not at all good in maitaining the relationships. Her luck with relationships was just hard luck .
He soon found his imagination wandering to how differently he had expected this evening to end. When the sky would have turned darker, and the stars brighter, he would have finally asked her. Told her how much he loved her instead of her being flawed in many ways. He didn’t need her to be perfect cause he was in love with her imperfections.Till noon, he had almost felt sure that naira would have agreed. Rather, she would have jumped with delight. She would have then laughed endlessly while telling about it to her mamma or her papa. As he thought about all these happy things, he was brought to face the harsh reality by a tap on the shoulder. He turned around and saw naira looking at him amusedly.
He rubbed his eyes while naira again sat down next to him. She finally said, “So, why did you bring me here tonight? What was it that you wanted to ask?”
Karthik quickly said, “Nothing, can’t we come here just to spend some time together? Do you always have to look for a reason behind everything?”
Naira laughed his favorite laughter and looked at him. “ I have known you since a long time. I know it when you are up to something. I can tell that you want to say something, but are afraid to do so. Look at the way you are rubbing your palms together. I know for sure that you want to say something. So, spit it out.”
Of course she had known all along that he was here to say something. Suddenly, karthik felt very self-conscious. Did she know the exact thing too? No, it couldn’t be true. She didn’t know that much. Or did she ?!! He was now hell worried about how she would react to his love.
“I am getting late mendhak,” the urgency in naira’s voice brought him back from his reverie. He saw her getting up and tying her sandal straps. In a minute she would be gone. Gone far away from him. Far away from this city. Far away from this country. You see, she had got a scholarship at a London dance university. She was going there for 2 years. He wouldn’t get to see her for 2 long years.
It was now or never. As he saw Naira walking away after waving him a good bye, he knew it was the only time to tell her about it. He jogged up to her and turned her back. Naira was stunned. His next sentence was enough to make her dizzy.
“I love you, Naira . Will you be mine forever?”

I wrote this because I so love naira’s character in the show. I love how she is not perfect but instead is flawed. I soo can relate to her. How she believes that she is not deserving of the love she gets. How she has trust issues with every other person. How she commits mistakes and learns from them. I just love naira because she is not a goody two shoes like every other serial’s main lead.
