While addressing the rape allegations Rakhi Sawant had leveled against him, Durrani downplayed the issue of marital rape, stating, “As far as I see, marital rape doesn’t really happen in society. I know a lot of people, and I have many international friends too, and I’ve never heard of marital rape happening. There are far fewer cases of marital rape compared to actual rape.”
Durrani’s comments, which suggest that marital rape is either rare or non-existent, have stirred strong reactions. His views reflect a dangerous misunderstanding of the issue, as he seems to suggest that if a couple no longer has mutual interest in intimacy, it is merely a sign of a lack of love. He further added that if a husband forces his wife, they should not stay together, implying that marital rape is simply a relationship issue rather than a criminal act.
In the same interview, Durrani discussed the ongoing legal battle between him and Rakhi Sawant, revealing that their next court hearing is scheduled for November. According to Durrani, Rakhi must return to India for the proceedings. He also accused Rakhi of falsely labeling him as a rapist and a domestic abuser, which has fueled the ongoing feud between them.
