Actress Shefali Sharma returns to the small screen after six years with upcoming show ‘Sanjog’

After the news about Kamya Panjabi returning to the small screen with Sanjog now, there are reports about another actress making a comeback with the same show.

The makers have roped in actress Shefali Sharma, who became a household name with her stint as Bani in Bani – Ishq Da Kalma, to essay the role of one of the mothers, Amrita.

The actress talked about it during a recent interview with BT and shared, “I was busy doing Punjabi films. Also, I wasn’t too pleased with the kind of projects I was being offered on TV. That’s another reason why I was away from the small screen.”

She added, “When Pawan (Kumar, the producer of the show) sir briefed me about Sanjog, I realized that it was a clutter-breaker. It is not your run-of-the-mill family drama or a typical love story. This show is a slice of life. The audience wants to sample different content and not watch the same thing on every channel.”

When asked about her take on several shows wrapping up within five months owing to the low TRPs, she replied, “If we keep fearing that a new concept won’t strike a chord with the audience, aise toh hum kabhi bhi kuchh bhi naya nahi laa paayenge. We have to keep trying to deliver something new. For example, I watch Anupamaa. I like it because the protagonist of the show is strong. She takes a stand for herself. Aaj ki generation wants ki koi bhi heroine itni bechari na ho. She should be able to stand up for herself.”

Hetvi Sharma will essay the role of Chanda (Kamya’s onscreen daughter) and Tara’s role will be essayed by nine-year-old Hazel Shah. Hazel will be seen as Shefali’s onscreen daughter.
