Actress Puja Banerjee on her first Sindoor Khela after marriage with actor Kunal Verma
Actress Puja Banerjee, who got married to actor Kunal Verma in November last year, celebrated her first Sindoor Khela today at a Kali temple in Goregaon. The actress was accompanied by her husband Kunal and her one-year-old son Krishiv.
Puja talked about it during a recent interview and said, “We had a court marriage in April 2020 and a traditional wedding last year in November 2021. But due to the pandemic, we could not celebrate any festivals. So technically it was my first Durga Puja, Dasshera and Sindoor Khela after marriage. This year, I went to Kolkata for Durga Puja. I returned on Monday, and visited the pandals with my husband Kunal on Navami in Mumbai.”
Talking further about celebrating the Sindoor Khela Bengali tradition, she shared, “I got dressed in the red and white Bengali saree and along with Kunal and Krishiv, went to the Kali temple. First, we offered our prayers and then we played with the sindoor, which was kept near Maa Durga’s feet. Kunal also applied sindoor on me. It was special with Kunal and Krishiv around me and celebrating it with me. I am glad that after two years we are able to celebrate all festivals with fervor. As a child, I used to attend the Sindoor Khela, but after marriage, it has become more special for me. There were many other women too, celebrating the tradition.”
On the work front, Puja who is known for her role in Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev is currently focussing on web and Bengali film projects. She said, “I have not been able to focus on TV but I have a few projects in Kolkata and will have to go back to my hometown to resume work. Next week is my son’s birthday, so after celebrating it, I will go back to Kolkata.”
