Actor Vijayendra Kumeria on the revolutionary world of OTT and why shows are going off air abruptly; says, “The attention span and patience of the audience is no more like it used to be”

The entertainment industry is going through a revolutionary phase. The shows who lack in ratings are abruptly going off-air while the onset of OTT platforms has generated a flood of content.

Actor Vijayendra Kumeria who is known for his role in shows like Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, Shastri Sisters, Sufiyana Pyaar Mera, and Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha talked about it in a recent interview with BT. He shared, “There is a big shift of viewership to OTT platforms and entertainment on the internet. One of the biggest reasons for that is the entertainment on demand and the convenience that the consumer experiences. Also for content creators, there are many more options to show their creativity and work.”

He adds, “Today’s world is about having options. When it comes to entertainment too, people watch what they want to and when they want to. The attention span and patience of the audience is no more like it used to be in the past. For makers or creators, it’s a challenge to keep their viewers glued and maybe that’s the reason that we are able to get more and more quality content across mediums.”

The actor also talked about the changing pace of working in the showbiz, he said, “Deadlines are set and to achieve them you have to work really hard. Planning your day well and working smart is the only option to deal with this. You have to make some changes in your lifestyle and keep yourself fit and healthy mentally and physically or else you won’t be able to cope with the pressure.”

When asked if he has faced any mental fatigue in recent times. He shared, “Yes, you do get mentally tired with the long working hours and the monotony of your work schedule. When that happens, you have to concentrate on your well-being more. You have to find what works best for you. For me, working out and meditation is the way to deal with mental fatigue, and of course, sound sleep really helps.”
