Renowned actor Sooraj Ohri, acclaimed for his remarkable performances in notable projects like “Maharana Pratap,” “Parineetii,” and the web series “Indian Police Force,” recently opened up about a pivotal chapter in his life. Recounting a challenging period, he revealed how a severe accident at the age of 18 profoundly impacted his trajectory, leaving him bedridden for nearly a year.
Reflecting on the traumatic experience, Sooraj shared, “At 18, I faced a life-altering accident that reshaped my entire existence. During a journey with a friend, an abrupt braking incident led to severe injuries, including a dislocated hip, necessitating extensive surgery.”
Recalling the grim prognosis from doctors, who doubted his ability to regain full mobility or pursue his passion for dance due to a potential limp, Sooraj refused to succumb to despair. Despite the daunting prognosis, he embarked on a steadfast path to rehabilitation. Initially relying on assistive devices like a walker, Sooraj painstakingly relearned to walk, gradually transitioning to a walking stick over time.
The arduous process demanded unwavering determination, spanning two years, yet Sooraj remained resolute by faith and resilience. As he gradually regained mobility, he redirected his focus towards sculpting his physique, using the setback as a catalyst for personal growth.
“I devoted myself to physical conditioning, sculpting my body to peak fitness. The experience of being bedridden for nearly a year was undoubtedly one of the darkest and most agonizing periods of my life,” Sooraj reflected.
However, amidst the challenges, Sooraj recognized the transformative impact of adversity, crediting the ordeal for instilling essential virtues crucial to his chosen profession. “My ordeal fostered resilience and patience, indispensable virtues for navigating the unpredictable terrain of acting. Adversity served as a crucible, refining my character and fortifying my resolve,” he added.
Today, as Sooraj captivates audiences with his compelling performances on screen, he carries with him the indelible lessons gleaned from overcoming adversity. “My accident, while tumultuous, served as a formative chapter, laying the foundation for my journey as an actor,” he affirmed, embodying resilience and determination in pursuit of his dreams.
