Actor Karan Kundrra talks about his upcoming show Ishq Mein Ghayal

Karan Kundrra who garnered immense popularity with his stint in Bigg Boss is now back to the fiction genre two years after his stint on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The actor will be seen as a werewolf in the show, Ishq Mein Ghayal (IMG).

During a recent interview with BT, Karan talked about it and opened up about his choices of projects. Talking about his character in the show, Karan shared, “Veer is completely black. It’s the most interesting and badass character I have played in my career. Also, I feel that the concept of positive, negative or grey doesn’t exist on TV anymore. Times have changed. Back in the day, a bad guy would do everything wrong without feeling sorry about it and an actor feared getting typecast. I don’t think that happens anymore.”

When asked about the factors that govern his choice of projects, he replied, “Over the years, I have realized that everything is about the character, as it stays with audiences. If the character has touched them, they will remember the actor who has played it. Also, I have understood that no matter how well-written a character is, unless you play it with conviction, it won’t make the cut with the audience. It’s all about what you bring to the table.”

Talking about what prompted him to return to the fiction genre after hosting a reality show, Karan shared, “I don’t believe in making plans because whenever I’ve made plans for my career or life, they never fructified. Of course, Bigg Boss opened a lot of avenues for me. I completed two films and hosted two reality shows. I took a long break before I agreed to be a part of this show. I don’t think you need breaks from television to explore the cinema. I don’t think a film director considers what I am currently doing ya kya kiya hai when he wants to cast me. Agar aise hi hota toh Bigg Boss kyu karta ya yeh show kyu karta. Bigg Boss ke baad film kyu karta. I have done enough work for them to know that I can get into the skin of a character and they can cast me. I am comfortable with what I have achieved. I understand that I need to be a good actor for which I need to be associated with good projects. Today, actors are not known for the platform they are on, but for their acting prowess. Nowadays, people don’t focus on becoming a hero. They instead want to be recognized as good actors. I believe that is a more long-lasting career choice than thinking ki main yeh sab chhod kar ab yahi karunga. Yeh pehle hota tha, ab nahi hota. Ab artiste ki value hai”, he concluded.
