Chapter- 21 (a)

*****Flashback*****
On the day of marriage _
“This is the contract. According to this, you are going to be married to me for six months. Under any circumstances, you can not annull it till the next six months. You are to stay with me, Shivaay Singh Oberoi, under the same roof, in the same room as my wife.” Anika looked teary eyed at him. He smirked at her “else, forget about your brother’s treatment and also your canteen.”

Shivaay breathed in her hair and she shivered, involuntary, at the contact. He had missed her; office was difficult with Gauri giving him dirty glares, and the sense of homecoming insanely sweet. He turned her towards himself and nuzzled her face. Anika balled her fists, unable to take the sweet torture from her ‘husband’- her eyes flew open as soon as she thought husband. Her body tensed and eyes flew open. Shivaay felt the change in her body language and parted away, only to see a blank expression on her face. “Anika, Anika, you all right?” “Yes, Shivaay” she replied in a perfectly parroted voice “I’m all right. I’m your contract wife” and stood still as if he could do whatever he pleased. He felt his heart clench as Anika uttered the words and without any more delay, he left the room.
Soumya got ready to host her show in the evening. A few songs later, she answered her first caller who seeked advice to pacify his girlfriend. Another caller asked for a special song dedicated to his pregnant wife who heard her show each day while another one asked asked for a song dedicated to his friends on his best friend’s birthday. After a few songs and answering a few callers, she was joined by Anika who had by then pulled on a thin facade, and passed snide comments together. It was almost time to wind up her show when a call flashed. She threw a ‘ not again’ look to Anika, who giggled in response and gestured her pick it up. “Hey there! I’m your love Angel. May I know who is on the other end?” Soumya greeted in a forced sweet tone. “Hey, Hi, I’m…. Ryan. Actually, I’m going on a concert of only female friend for the first time; both going to concert and with female friend. I’m always in my work clothes so what do you to suggest I should wear?” Soumya was impressed by the straight- forwardness and the genuine confusion in his voice. “So Ryan, first of all congratulations for making your first female friend and your first concert. I suggest you to wear semi- formals leather jackets and T-shirt with jeans, not ripped ones, and sports shoes. This will help you to fit in the crowd but stand out attractively. Hope you have a good time.” “Thanks…. Thank you so much for giving such good advice. Hope you enjoy your evening…..” The call was cut. Soumya shook her head and smiled before putting on the last melody to play.
