“Explain!!!….” Gauri’s hard voice seemed to ring in his study, her eyes livid, her small stance dangerous. Shivaay had received a shock to see Anika crying, her arms around Gauri, speaking in broken voice. As soon as Anika caught sight of him, she ran past him, up the stairs while Gauri stared at him; a mad rage in her eyes, lips in a thin line, her expression accusing. Shivaay decided not to create a scene in the hall and strode to his study while Gauri followed; she had come to know his behavior too well to know he wanted her follow him.

“I owe you none, Miss Sharma!”. “Oh yes! you do, Mr. Oberoi, for I know law enough to know that blackmailing, marrying someone against her will is ILLEGAL. And you owe me one, for Anu’s my friend or I assure you, this news is going to be leaked in media.” Gauri threatened, unwavered by the ferocity in Shivaay’s expression. She had no intention of saying such, but he had blackmailed Anika into marriage, her only best friend; she was raged.

During these months of working together, Shivaay had understood, she meant whatever she said so decided to take an honest approach; the situation from his perspective. “Sit down, Gauri” he advised, softening his stance ” it’s really a long story.”

Jhanvi had taken half a day off. She was to receive her boss the next day at office, so decided to groom herself up in these few hours. Tej looked immensely surprised to see her in a royal blue frock- suit, a dress she had hardly worn since college, humming an old Hindi melody as she wore a thin diamond studded chain, casting aside her usual mangalsutra. “Hi Tej, had a good day at office?” she asked casually, checking herself in the mirror. Receiving no reply, she turned with a brow raised, and said in a sweet voice ” I said hello Tej.” “Yeah! Yeah! I had a great day”. He shuffled to the bed and began to take his overcoat off. “Cool, I’ll be downstairs. See you later” Jhanvi chirped as she moved out of the room. Tej gazed, dazzled and dazed, at the retreating figure of his wife ( auto corrected in mind : only Jhanvi).
