Chapter-18 A

The days went by- slowly but better than before. Anika wasn’t the same as before but Shivaay and she had formed an unspoken connection and understanding. ShivOmRu came together all thanks to Soumya and Priyanka who made the younger brothers realize that Shivaay had always neglected his needs for the family and if he has done something for his happiness they should support him and be by his side. Their reunion had been a sentimental one but Om still felt he had failed as a best friend so often escaped in the evenings to Gauri’s house. The children acted as stress busters but he somehow felt Gauri being way too overprotective. Jhanvi’s disappearance was often subject of question at the table but she didn’t break the silence. Soumya and Rudra announced their relationship among the younger Oberois and were heartily welcomed while Shivaay decided to marry them as soon as their college completed. Anika earned the title of eldest Oberoi Bahu but it was not announced before the media considering the contract.

Here Anika avoided all contacts with the people in chawl including Gauri and made her worried sick not being able to contact her for these months. Anika on the other hand, decided not to make her worried by visiting her in flashy cars or along with Shivaay though she could not help but think of her. Weeks passed, slowly and gradually, alongside Priyanka’s friendship with Moonlight grew deeper and so did youngest Oberois’ love. Jhanvi had no chance to meet her boss as he was on a business trip but met the MD, a young man of about twenty- five; a shrewd yet charming business man and certainly a classy associate who had linked with her very well. Autumn passed and winter arrived, chilly winds and rain, and came the news of the CEO’s arrival. Jhanvi- the personal secretary of state CEO of the JS group of business, looked forward to meeting her boss and to prove the best for him.

Gauri had been increasingly worried about Om’s closeness with the children. She feared their heart would break on separation. Shivaay had changed quite a lot in the previous months and working with him meant competitiveness and intelligence. He was an excellent guide and boss other than his attitude at times. That day, he had called to inform her that he needed a file at his house, for he was supposed to be working from home that day. Gauri appreciated the fine interior decorator and the warm and welcoming atmosphere when Shivaay himself came to receive her. Both attended a conference call with the foreign delegates about their new Chicago office. It was a wonderful opportunity and both were ecstatic, once the project was approved. After a while, when Gauri was about to leave, Shivaay actually smiled at her and thanked her for all the help she had provided for the project. Gauri felt quite embarrassed at his emotional speech, so she insisted on going by herself and not let their driver drop her off. Once she came to the hall, she stopped still. There, on the sofa, sat Anika, laughing and talking. But that didn’t surprise her, the red filling on her head and the black beaded chain on her neck did…
