Aashiesh Sharrma on his break from television; says, “I don’t see myself exploring television in the near future”

Aashiesh Sharrma, who rose to fame with his performance in shows like Rangrasiya and Siya Ke Ram, moved away from TV to essay versatile characters. It has been almost four years since Aashiesh was last seen on television in Prithvi Vallabh.

In a recent interview with BT, Aashiesh talked about it and shared, “I feel fortunate to be offered back-to-back shows and that, too, unconventional stories. However, nothing interesting is happening on TV right now. Also, I have always been selective about the work I take up and have been part of projects that allowed me to add value both in terms of the storyline and my character. With the OTT boom and the influx of so many platforms, I realized that it was time I moved on and tried other avenues as well. My wife Archana (Taide) and I are working on creating our own stories. We have embarked on a new journey altogether. Given how things are shaping up, I don’t see myself exploring TV in the near future.”

He added, “I have only strived for ab aur achha kya karu and never ab agla kaam kya karu. All I want to do is push the envelope. I am working with some amazing creative minds. The process is helping me evolve as an artist and an individual.”

The actor feels that people are yet to warm up to TV actors. He says, “They are apprehensive about casting a TV actor in their films. However, we can’t blame them. Every system follows a process and every medium functions taking stock of pros and cons. Instead of cribbing about it, we have to make our own way. It’s not that TV actors haven’t got a breakthrough. A lot of them are getting good work in films. I am also shooting for a couple of films.”
