Aarush Srivastav Advocates Against On-Screen Bullying on the occasion of “World Day of Bullying Prevention”
Aarush Srivastav, recognized for his portrayal of the antagonist Raksham Dalmiya in the drama ‘Saavi Ki Savaari,’ recently shared insights on the significance of addressing bullying, coinciding with the ‘World Day of Bullying Prevention’ on October 2. The actor opened up about facing criticism in a recent interview and emphasized the need to take a stand against bullying.
Reflecting on the issue, Aarush remarked, “Bullying has become a growing problem, particularly in recent years. While some may view hazing and abuse as a societal norm, the consequences, including depression and violence, have prompted authorities to adopt a strict, zero-tolerance stance on bullying.”
Aarush recounted an incident when he became a target of online trolling for his portrayal of negative characters. He expressed, “I enjoy essaying negative roles, but it doesn’t sit well with my audience. They bully me for being the antagonist on screen. Initially, I took it as a compliment for doing good work as a villain.”
However, he noted a shift when the criticism turned personal. “Later, when people started getting personal, I realized it was high time to address it. Such experiences are far from delightful,” Aarush shared.
Having appeared in shows like ‘Bekaaboo,’ ‘Naagin,’ ‘Udaariyaan,’ and ‘Pavitra Rishta,’ among others, Aarush urged others to speak out against bullying. He emphasized that taking a stand against bullying starts at home and encouraged reflection on seemingly harmless behaviors that might be perceived as damaging.
“If we witness bullying around us, we need to stand up, tell the offender to stop, and champion the person being bullied. It’s crucial to spread awareness about the consequences of bullying and genuinely listen to people complaining about their treatment in society,” Aarush stated.
In conclusion, he emphasized the gravity of the bullying issue and called on everyone to use the ‘World Day of Bullying Prevention’ as an opportunity to take a collective stand against it. Aarush believes that collective action is essential to eradicate this serious problem from society.
