G: Do not worry. I am here.
O: Gauri?? It was you all this time. But, why did you not talk to me?
G: Om, I am here for you. I know it is very dark and a small place but you have me. You are not in here by yourself.
She then puts her scarf on her lap.
G: Sleep her.
O: On your lap??
G: What is wrong with that? Did you ever sleep on your mother’s or grandmother’s lap before?
O(Thinking): For all the things I have done to her, she is treating me as her kid. I do not know how I am going to make up for her.
Om puts his head on her lap and starts to cry.
O: I was wrong…
Gauri continues to calm him down as his emotional state was extremely bad.
G: Let’s not talk about this right now.
All of sudden, Gauri does not hear him talking. At first, she thought he was sleeping but when she looked at him, she found out that he was unconscious.
G (Screaming): OM!! OM!! GET UP PLEASE!! EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE! JUST GET UP AND TALK TO ME!!
Still no response.
She then gets up and starts to scream. She bangs on the elevator wall to get attention to a point where the palms start to bleed. But, she did not care. Her only priority was to get Om out of here and get him some fresh air. Someone hears her from the outside, opens up the elevator door and gets them both out.
G: He is unconscious. Quickly, call a doctor and bring some water.
The doctor comes and checks him.
D: He is fine. He just could not take the confined space anymore and panicked.
G: Why is he not waking up? Please, doctor, wake him up.
D: How is he related to you?
G: He is my… my… friend. I just want him better.
The doctors give him some medicine and slowly Om starts to open his eyes.
Om’s POV
At first, everything was dark and I can hear a girl screaming at someone. Then, my eyes slowly opened and I can see that girl hovering over my face. Her hand was on his head. As soon as she sees my eyes open, he can see her, walking her away from him.
Om gets up and looks around. He was on a bed. It was his room and there were a few people around him.
O: Gauri, where is Gauri?
Everyone was confused.
D: Are you referring to the girl who took you out of the elevator?
O: Yes, where is she?
D: Your friend just left the room right now.
Om runs out the room and into the hallway to find it empty. He then goes to the doctor and holds his collar.
O(Angry): What did you let her go? I came her to find her and now she is gone.
D: How would I know that? Why are you so mad for a friend?
O: Doctor, she is also my wife.
D: Oh, she told me that you were her friend. Do not worry, sir. If I see her, I will call you. For now, just take these medications and and she will be back.
The doctor leaves the room.
After a few hours, the doorbell rings.
O: It has to be Gauri. She came to see how I am.
He opened the door and it was a man with a food cart.
M: Hello, sir. The food that you ordered is here.
O: But, I did not order it though.
M: Sir, this was a gift from another guest in this resort. She asked us to deliver it to you.
The man opens it the cover and it was his favourite dish. Pasta with alfredo sauce.
O(Thinking): Gauri ordered it for me.
M: She also asked us to give this to you. (The man gives him an envelope and leaves.)
Om closes the door and even though he was starving, he did not care. He opened the envelope and started reading it
Letter:
I am extremely sorry for hurting you. I never had the intention to squeeze your hand in the door but I could not say anything as I do not want you to figure out that it was me. I have been watching you and you have not eaten anything today. You are taking medicines and you need to eat something to prevent the side effects. Please eat this and also take your medicine. I would appreciate it if you leave this resort because I just want to be alone. If you do not leave by next week, then I will leave the city and relocate somewhere else.
Also, next time when you are in elevator, make sure there is someone with you.
O(Thinking): So, she has been watching me all this time by how?
He first opens the curtains to see if anyone is watching him from their room but that was not possible as all the curtains were closed. He then ran outside to see if Gauri was in the hallway but still she was not there.
O: Gauri, if this is your wish, then I will eat this.
But, he did not see the girl in the hallway that was hiding in the corner. She was there for the entire day, hoping to see Om better. It was Gauri. He passed her but she quickly ran down the stairwell so he could not see her.
G(Thinking and tears in her eyes): You look better now. As much as I show how much I hate you, I still respect as my friend so please get well soon.
Gauri heads her room.
Back in Om’s room
O: At first, I though your care for me was all part of your disguise. But now, Gauri, I finally understand your position in my life. As my wife, I will take you to the Oberoi mansion and give you the rights that you have been asking me. You will become an equal part of my life.
