(ANNIKA POV)

As I opened my eyes…I saw Daksh on the floor with blood dripping out from his mouth while a person standing with his back towards me with fist clenched tight…

I tried to look towards the person more clearly but my neck ached making me to whimper a little…the person with fist still clenched turned towards me and what I met with was ‘set of blue eyes’ trying to burn a hole through me…

But as his stare get focused his eyes softened a bit and his fist relaxed…taking a step towards me he cupped my face in his palms and said…

“Are you alright?”

My mind refused to process even such an easy question…I wasn’t sure my mind was shocked with sudden intrusion of Daksh or sudden appearance of Shivaay…It was still processing all the details…

He asked again the same thing and I nodded my head affirming…I looked back towards the floor where Daksh was still lying makes me feel deja-vu…

FLASHBACK…

It had been few months for me and Shivaay to become friends…but from friends when did we become best friends we both never came to know…

Without talking to him I never used to get sleep in the night…Though Our company’s project in Oberoi Industries was completed but it didn’t affect our friendship…

Sometimes he used to hang out at my place while sometime I used to hang out on his…while Sitting lazily on couch and watching movie or working on our individual projects we used to kick and tease each other…gossiping…gulping down so much caffeine enough to drown half of Delhi down but ‘who cares’…

For everyone he was Shivaay Singh Oberoi but for me he was just Shivaay,my best friend…After office hours we used to go for little outings here or there…We both used to enjoy night life of Delhi…And from just seeing him as my best friend when I further fell head over heels in love with him  I never understood…

Somewhere deep down I know he was also having feelings for me but still not wanting to accept and I don’t want to give my heart false hopes…

He used to travel a lot between Delhi and Mumbai because his whole family was there in Mumbai but he was CEO of here of Delhi branch…

With time being I came closer to his family as well …

That day,

It was already around 7 in the evening and my head was pounding a little…proving my exhausted self… but the report was supposed to be submitted on next day itself..So I was there sitting in my cabin with just two or three colleagues left…trying to complete the work as soon as possible…

Though my boss was fine but still…someday he tend to become a complete Dracula…’Ready to drink our blood with straws attached’…That’s what I used to tell Shivaay referring my boss… he used to laugh too much..telling me how weird I’m…

As Shivaay’s name crossed my mind I immediately picked my phone to call him…He answered it on second ring itself…

“What happened babe?I’m coming to pick you up in just half an hour…”He said still busy with some work…

“Wait..half an hour..what?”I stopped in my tracks…

“What the wuck…Don’t tell me you forgotten…”he almost shouted…

I kept my phone a little away from my innocent ear so that I don’t become deaf…

“Yeah yeah…I remember…How could I forget this…”I tried to do damage control but mess was already created…

“Don’t lie to me…Today I was going to……..”He didn’t complete that sentence and trailed off….

“Going to what?”I asked biting my tongue in the process…

“Nothing…”he said immediately…

“Well I’m really busy today…what about tomorrow?”I again tried to handle the situation..

“No…I can’t believe this …you just forget about today…I just hate you Ms. Annika Singhania…Bie…”Sadu Singh Oberoi returns…

“Don’t worry the feeling is mutual…Bie”I hanged up the call…sighing…

I did a mistake but so what we can meet tomorrow …what is there to whine like a child all cursing…

After this little conversation with my friend I again got myself indulge in work in order to complete it as fast as I can…I heard few banging of the main door and then our watchman Ramesh arrived peeking in from door after knocking…

“Annika mam…everyone has already left, only you and Daksh sir are left…when are you going to leave?”He asked me expectantly as he also need to leave to his home after locking the office down securely…

I looked towards the clock on the front wall…8 already…But my work was still left…”Should I also take a leave”I was just thinking this when Daksh arrived…He was one of my colleague..and I personally knew him from my college time…Though he wasn’t exactly a friend of mine but I was acquainted to him enough…

“Ohh your today’s work not completed yet..?”He asked…

“Umm no a little left…”I said to him…

“Well don’t worry I will help you with that…Ramesh you can go, leave the keys with me…I will lock the office properly…”He said former statement to me and later to Ramesh Bhaiya…

While I felt a little weird but chose to say nothing as completion of report was important more than anything…and I know Daksh…So nothing to worry I guess…

And with that Ramesh left… putting the key on my table…
