Chapter 34
Just hold me tonight !!

Karthik came to his room and started packing his bags. Tomorrow he along with Naira, Keerti dii and Naksh jiju were supposed to go to Goa for a meeting. He didnt realise the time until his eyes fell on the clock.

It was almost midnight but Karthik was stil awake. Firstly because, he hadn’t seen Naira since afternoon and secondly, she was now in the garden, pacing to and fro from the last one hour. Her silence was irritating him. He was standing in their room’s balcony and looking down at her moving form.

Naira’s mind was still reeling because of her father’s words. A fresh set of tears came to her eyes thinking about how badly she sketched her father’s image. How wrong she had thought of him.

After listening to her Mom and Dad’s conversation, she had wanted some time to herself and so she had gone to the garden in their house. As the cold started to seep in, she realised it was almost midnight.

Casually she lifted her head to their room’s balcony and saw Karthik staring at her. As soon as their eyes met, a sudden feeling of calm washed over her body. It was as if him promising to be there with her through it all.

He waved at her, calling her upstairs and she nodded her head. She walked towards their room.

“Is something wrong ?!!” Karthik asked once Naira came inside their room. She gave her best smile to him while arranging bedsheets and shaking her head in a negative.

Deep inside, she wanted to cuddle herself with him and cry her heart out. Suddenly, her breathing speed increased due to her wish. She laid down on the bed and stretched out her hand towards him.

Karthik took her hand and laid down beside her. He was totally confused because of her behaviour. She moved towards him and kept her head on his shoulder. She wrapped her arms around his torso as Karthik pulled her more closer to him.

“Just hold me.” Naira said almost in a whisper and Karthik placed a small kiss on her head.

He understood that right now she just wanted support and not an advice. He let her be, as he was sure that she will share it with him when the time comes. Slowly, both of them slid into a deep slumber.

“Please Naksh.” Keerti pleaded.

“I said no, Keerti.” Naksh protested as he brought their luggage to the living room. Keerti pouted and crossed her arms.

“Don’t make faces, Keerti. I wanted you to stay here itself but you forced me into taking you to Goa with me. You got what you wanted. So no arguments further.” Naksh said.

“What happened Naksh ?!!” Vrushika bhabi asked, hearing all the noise.

“She wants to travel to Goa by road.” Naksh said pointing at Keerti.

“That’s not a bad idea.” Naira said while descending the staircase with one of her bags. Keerti’s face lit up.

“But not for Keerti.” Shantanu bhai said taking the suitcase from Naira’s hand and climbing down the rest of the stairs.

“Oh come on bhai. Travelling by road is so much fun.” Keerti pleaded.

Naksh sighed. He had never said no to her.

“Fine but we go to Mumbai by flight and from there by road to Goa. Okay ?!!” He said and Keerti smiled like a child who got his favorite chocolate.

Everyone bid bye to Naksh, Keerti, Naira and Karthik. As they walked out of the house, Naira laced her fingers with Karthik’s which took him by surprise. But he just squessed her hand in return.

At that moment, Karthik found her adorable, really adorable. He raised his left hand to tug the lock of hair behind her ear. Naira blushed crimson.

“I have booked a car for us. It will be here any minute.” Naksh said as soon as their flight landed in Mumbai.

Their car was already waiting for them when they came out of the airport. The ladies got inside while the boys loaded their luggage. The driver gave the keys to Naksh and took the payment.

“Where are we going ?!!” Keerti asked as she felt something fishy. Naira was too tired to indulge in the conversation. Karthik smirked at Naksh who was driving the car.

“Its a surprise.” Naksh said, winking at Karthik.

“So, we aren’t going to Goa ?!!” Keerti asked, disappointment written on her face.

Naksh and Karthik chuckled as the car entered the parking of a hotel. Keerti scowled and turned to face the other side. Soon, they entered a lavish restaurant.

“I am too tired to eat.” Naira said yawning while Keerti pressed her lips into a thin line, still angry at Naksh.

“We are staying here for tonight.” Karthik declared and followed Naksh to the reception desk while Keerti and Naira sat on the sofa in the waiting area.

Keerti ordered orange juice for her. Naira casually gazed at her husband and saw both Naksh and Karthik almost flirting with the receptionist. She shifted in her seat.

“Aren’t you jealous ?!!” She asked Keerti who just sipped on her orange juice. Keerti turned to the reception and her blood boiled. But she knew that it’s not the time to show anger but to convince Naira with a smart answer.

“Are you ?!!” Keerti asked in return while Naira just shrugged her shoulders.

“See, you will feel jealous when you are either possessive or feared of loosing someone. Basically jealousy is where love is.” Keerti explained.

Naira turned to Karthik before giving a faint smile. She felt a sting in her heart seeing him laughing with the lady at the reception desk. She is surely possiessive and jealous, it means that she is in love.

Naira brushed off her thoughts as she realised what Keerti was up to. Keerti just smriked victoriously as she saw the change in Naira’s expressions and body language.

“Let’s go.” Naksh forwarded his hand to Keerti, as he returned with the key to their room but she refused and he understood that he must face consequences in their room.

Naira and Karthik just laughed at the cute fighting couple. They followed suite and went to their room. The waiters followed the couples with their luggage.
