Chapter 29
Broken Karthik.

Karthik came home early in the evening, totally exhausted by work but he knew that it was not the only reason. He was tired with his life. Nothing was happening as he had wished for.

His relationship with Naira was a strained one. One minute they were friends. The other minute they were more than friends. And the very next minute they would fight and say mean things to each other.

He didn’t even know where this marraige was heading to. He liked her. He liked her more than a friend. But then he didn’t want to hurt her. He didn’t even knew what she felt !!

When he entered his room, he saw Naira staring at him which was something unusual. He grabbed his T-Shirt and track pants from the closet and turned to the washroom.

“Can we talk ?!!” Naira interupted him, as she came and stood infront of him. He raised his eyebrow at her stubborness.

“Can we talk, please ?!!” Naira said again when Karthik didn’t respond. She batted her eyelashes at him, hoping he will melt for her cute trick.

“I am sorry but I am not in a mood to talk.” Karthik said and moved towards the washroom.

“But I am in a mood to talk.” Naira argued, pouting her lips.

Karthik stood rooted to his place gesturing her to continue with what she wanted to say. He still didn’t knew the reason behind him obeying her every wish. He was supposed to be angry at her but here he was, metling because of her cute antics.

“What’s wrong with you ?!! If I have hurt you, you must say that Karthik. I don’t possess any super natural powers to read your mood. Ohkay, I accept that I was wrong….” Naira started to say.

“Shut up.” Karthik cut her off in a tired voice. His eyes were dropping down.

“I am sorry Karthik, I blurted out those words in a heat of the moment. I didn’t mean any of those. I was just so frustrated with……” Naira again went on speaking and stopped when Karthik gave her a death glare.

She saw him looking at her with an unknown emotion. He kept the T-shirt and track pant on the side table and walked towards her in a slow stauntering way.

She raised her hands in defense but he kept walking in her direction till she reached the wall and her back colided with it. Karthik reached her and kept both of his hands on the wall, on each side of her head. He leaned in towards her. Her breath started racing, as his breath fanned her face.

“Shut up.” Karthik said almost in a whisper. Naira rolled her eyes understanding that he won’t give up so easily and she must do something else to calm him down. She decided on distracting him from their fight topic.

“You know what, Naksh bhai just came here in search of you and Maa said that we are going shopping tomorrow, for Keerti didi as she will be having her Godh Bharai in a day or two.” Naira blabbered on.

She knew that she was speaking nonsense and the intensity of his glare which kept on narrowing was a proof.

Karthik leaned in further, such that their foreheads touched. Naira gulped in embarrasement and didn’t dare to look in his eyes. She looked down and started with her ranting again.

“And Vrushika bhabi is planning to prepare Pav bhaji today, for Aaryan and I…..” Naira was cut off as Karthik placed his right hand on her mouth. Their breaths were now fanning each other’s face.

“I think I asked you to keep shut ?!!” Karthik asked her in a small voice.

Naira nodded and tried to smile but it dropped from her lips when she saw pain replacing in his eyes. He looked so broken and vulnerable.

“I am sorry Karthik !!” Naira said again.

“Why do you want to be forgiven by a heartless person ?!!” He asked in a pained whisper.

Guilt filled her body listening to him say those words. Why did she have to be so stupid ?!! What was his fault if her feelings were so messed up ?!! Why did she shout on him unnecessarily ?!!

As she was thinking about what to do next so that he forgives her. Karthik buried his head in the crook of her nape and she froze. She felt ghoosebumps rise all over her body as his lips touched her collar bone.

Karthik choked and it seemed like he is trying not to cry. He started shivering by the effort of it. Naira immediately wrapped her arms around him and started soothing his back. She didn’t knew he was so affected by their fight. She felt even worse now.

Karthik and Naira stood like that, in each others arms for about 10 minutes. Karthik then slowly entangled himself from her. As he moved back, she saw his eyes filled with tears.

“I..I am sorry.” He mumbled.

He went to his side of bed without changing his clothes and slept in a matter of seconds.

Naira paced the room after having dinner thinking about Karthik’s actions from the earlier incident. Of course, she didn’t wake him for dinner because he was really tired. And he almost looked like a baby sleeping so cutely. She didn’t have the heart to disturb him.

“You should be his strength. You are supposed to bring him out of his broken state and make him happy. But what did you do ?!! You ended up hurting him in the worst possible way.” She taunted herself.

‘I am going to make sure, he forgives me tomorrow.’ Naira decided to herself and slept on her side of the bed.

A little later in the night, an arm wrapped around Naira’s waist and pulled her into a cacoon of warmth. She snuggled more into Karthik’s embrace as a light smile played at her lips.

So here is the update for the day. Sorry, I could only manage one today as I was busy the whole day. Hope all of you had a great day.

So this Chapter had a broken Karthik and a guilty Naira. Also a small intimate moment. Don’t worry as soon Karthik would forgive her.
