A LOVE STORY (Tashan e Ishq) Chapter-1

Chapter-1 AWARD
“Nothing makes me more proud than receiving this award in front of my pillars of strength….my mother and my sister. The two women who have immensely contributed every bit in my journey, in my life, sacrificed to core and have been my backbone throughout. I owe you my everything Maa and Mahi. And thank you for honouring me…this means a lot…thank you again.” I complete as a few tears escape my eyes and a smile on my face signifying of all my dreams I’ve fulfilled…the dreams that were subject to ridicule and mockery….and a trophy in my hand which reads ‘Twinkle Taneja- Achiever of the Year’. I descend down the stage touch my mother’s feet and embrace her in a tight hug..this is when I get a little emotional and Mahi captures the moment. It was an award ceremony for acknowledging all the teachers and students for their hard work at the IP University.

There were proper arrangements for dinner and dance..everything. I made maa and Mahi meet my colleagues and students. But all throughout what I could see was my mother’s face which showed all emotions of glory and pride. Her eyes spoke for all those emotions and feelings which my mother couldn’t verbally. And Mahi, ahh she was the happiest one around. We ate dinner and came back home. We changed into our comfortable clothes and I prepared ‘chai’ for the three of us. We sat together sipping our tea and talking when maa said that it was one of the most beautiful days of her life after a long, tough and tiring journey and how she eventually missed papa the most right now. She said, “Papa will be really proud of you, Twinkle. You’ve made us all very proud.” Mahi and I went and sat at her feet…our heads resting on her lap and she caressed our hair as gently as she’d always do. None of us said anything but we understood our silence.

I went to my room,bolted the door and sat with a family picture of ours and realised how time had actually flied. How Mahi and I have actually grown up so fast…maybe we would never have unless it was about time. Then I fall into my thoughts of what had happened 9 years ago.
