In a dramatic shift, Bawridevi publicly announces her acceptance of Kishmish, declaring that the girl will be formally brought into the family with rituals in two days. She vows that no one will be allowed to harm Samrat or Kishmish. She tends to Samrat’s wounds, defiantly stating she would fight the god of death himself for her grandson and that the villagers’ opinions mean nothing. Though Samrat treats her injury in return, he refuses to believe her sudden change of heart. Bawridevi insists everything she did was to protect him.
When Samrat reminds her that no one stood by him when he took Kishmish to Mumbai, Bawridevi explains that the conflict is now between family and society, and she has chosen family. She tells him trusting her is his choice, gives him money for school fees, and instructs him to take Kishmish to school, promising to protect them because she would do anything for Samrat. She personally escorts them to school.
Later, a confused Samrat tells Susheela he cannot process the sudden change. The true cost of Bawridevi’s announcement becomes clear when Manveer returns from school crying. He reveals his back, where other students have written “Donkey’s son is donkey.” Ratan angrily blames Bawridevi, saying this humiliation is a direct result of her accepting Kishmish and that the villagers would have killed them if she had done it earlier. Bawridevi vows revenge on the perpetrators and orders her family to accept her decision if they wish to remain in her house. Champa taunts that no one cares, and Manveer, in his anguish, blames Samrat and Kishmish for his suffering. This confirms Samrat’s deepest fear—he tells Bawridevi he always saw hatred in her eyes and cannot bring himself to trust her.
In a desperate act of penance for losing Samrat’s trust, Bawridevi whips herself. Samrat pleads with her to stop, calling her “Grandma,” but is interrupted by Kishmish’s scream. He learns Ratan has taken Kishmish and locked them out. Bawridevi begs Ratan to release the girl, calling her Samrat’s life, but Ratan refuses, believing Kishmish is destroying their family. Convinced this is all a cruel game orchestrated by Bawridevi, Samrat escapes via the balcony. He devises a plan with his friends, intercepts Ratan, and uses chili powder to create a diversion, successfully rescuing Kishmish and fleeing.
