In an interview with Bombay Times, Gurucharan Singh addressed the speculation surrounding his disappearance. “Many people thought I planned my disappearance for publicity, but that’s far from the truth,” he stated. “If I wanted publicity, I could have given interviews to discuss my pending dues from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I could have used social media, but I didn’t.”
The actor, known for his role as Sodhi, mentioned that he chose not to give any interviews after returning home. However, he felt compelled to speak up now to clarify certain misconceptions.
Singh has always had a spiritual inclination, which he attributes to his parents. During challenging times, he turned to spirituality for solace. He revealed that he had no intention of returning, but a divine signal compelled him to come back home.
When asked about the reasons behind his sudden disappearance, the 51-year-old actor shared that he had been deeply affected by various issues since the pandemic. In 2020, he left Mumbai for Delhi as his father was undergoing surgery. He ventured into several businesses, but none succeeded. Either the work was incomplete, or his partners disappeared.
Singh also mentioned a prolonged property dispute that drained his finances, leaving him “very disturbed” for a long time.
