The investigation into Elvish Yadav’s alleged involvement in a snake venom case is ongoing, with the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner currently out on bail. In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken over the case from the Noida Police. Here’s how the investigation is expected to proceed.
According to a report by Times Now News, the Enforcement Directorate has assumed control of the snake venom case involving Elvish Yadav and his associates. The Noida Police had already submitted a comprehensive 1200-page chargesheet against the accused, which included witness statements, electronic evidence, and a forensic report. The ED will now collect all this evidence and continue the investigation. Sources indicate that Elvish Yadav will soon be questioned by the ED.
For those unfamiliar with the case, on November 3 of the previous year, Elvish Yadav and five others were charged under the Wildlife Protection Act (WPA) and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The charges were filed at Sector 49 police station for allegedly supplying snake venom to partygoers in Noida for recreational use.
Nine snakes—five cobras, one python, two sand snakes, and one rat snake—protected under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, were recovered, along with a 20ml tube of snake venom, from the suspects at the time of their arrest. Following a forensic report confirming that the 20ml liquid was krait venom, the police added charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act to the existing FIR.
In March, Elvish Yadav was arrested by the Noida Police in connection with the case and was subsequently sent to 14-day judicial custody. Currently, he is out on bail. During interrogation, Elvish admitted to arranging and supplying the snake venom for the party. However, his legal team argues that he was initially called in for questioning as a witness, was illegally detained, and then arrested.
As the ED takes over the investigation, all eyes are on how the case will unfold. With Elvish Yadav set to be questioned again, new developments are anticipated in this high-profile case.
