Devoleena Bhattacharjee Shares Special Moments from First Ganpati Celebration Post-Marriage: A Unique Excitement as a Married Couple
Devoleena Bhattacharjee is filled with excitement as she continues the tradition of welcoming Ganpati Bappa into her home during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which began on September 19. During a recent interview, Devoleena shared glimpses from her first Ganpati celebration since her marriage. She opened up about her husband, Shahnawaz, taking on the role of selecting Bappa this time and the joy of celebrating it as a married couple.
Devoleena shared her thoughts, saying, “The excitement was different. It’s not as if this is my first Ganpati with Shaan (Shahnawaz). We have celebrated many Ganpatis together. However, this one was special because it marked our first Ganpati celebration as a married couple. It feels exhilarating now that we are married. There’s almost no difference, except that I took charge of the kitchen duties, while Shaan handled everything else. Everything has unfolded beautifully.”
Devoleena also mentioned that she had to put in extra effort in the kitchen this time because her mother wasn’t present. She credited her mother, saying, “Everything I’ve learned, I’ve learned from my mom. I’ve observed her throughout my childhood, watching how she manages things. I’ve absorbed her skills. Whenever there’s a puja, we prepare the offerings ourselves. I also enjoy preparing the offerings and serving them to everyone.”
Speaking about their Ganpati idol, Devoleena said, “Shaan wanted Bappa to have a golden sheen, and he personally chose the idol. We took care of the floral decorations to complement the Ganpati idol.”
When asked about her wishes for Bappa, she replied, “We’ve embarked on a new journey together. My prayer is for our lives to be filled with happiness. Even in times of sorrow, may He grant us the strength to overcome obstacles. I wish this not only for us but for everyone around us.”
Devoleena tied the knot with Shahnawaz in November last year. Currently, she is portraying the lead role of Deesha in the drama series ‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’.
