Sumbul Touqeer talks about her bond with her dad; says “My father guided me on my first periods”
Sumbul Touqeer, who rose to fame with the TV show Imlie, has always been vocal about her bond with her father Touqeer Khan. During a recent interview with ETimes TV, the actress talked about it and shared how her father helped her get through her first periods and more.
She said, “I think joh cheez Mujhe nahi mili hai bachpan se, I don’t know what it is (my mom has not been around). I have always stayed with my father. Till now in my life, I have never felt the need for anyone else’s support or guidance. The first time I got my period, my father was there, nobody else was around to guide me. I told my father and he helped me with it. He knows each and everything about me and my life. I never felt uncomfortable about it even till now and neither my dad has ever felt any discomfort. I don’t know how different it would have been having a lady around in the house as I’ve never experienced it.”
Recalling how he took care of her since the age of 6, Sumbul said, “He raised us all alone single-handedly. Whether it was waking up and getting us ready for school, cooking our breakfast, looking after the house, or running his own dance school, he did everything all alone. He would send us to school, finish all the household chores, then go to his dance school, come back and have lunch with us then we would go to tuition and then he would again finish the remaining chores. In the evening we all would meet at the dance school and after coming back he would cook dinner for us. This was his routine while we were growing up and I clearly remember this.”
Sumbul also talked about her experience with Bigg Boss 16. She said “Yes, I have become quite strong mentally after Bigg Boss 16. People tried to put me down and break me but after a few days, I managed to overcome those challenges. I feel very calm and relaxed now. And I don’t think I need anything else in life now.”
On the professional front, Sumbul was recently seen in the comedy show Entertainment Ki Raat Housefull along with other TV actors Shiv Thakare, Rubina Dilaik, Karan Kundrra, Archana Gautam, Haarsh Limbachiya, Punit Pathak, Arjun Bijlani and others.
