Chalte Chalte – Vani And Avneil FF (03. Just miss)

“Why don’t you confess, Bani?” Avni asked softly seeing her friend looking at Veeranshu from a distance. This had become quite a routine for Bani every morning.

“You know why.” Bani replied rolling her eyes. “We’re different from eachother, Avni. We’ll never work out.” She said shaking her head.

“Why?”

“Kyunki, woh asmaan mein udta hain, Avni, aur main zameen par chalti hoon. Woh din hain, toh main raat hoon. Woh sooraj hain toh main chaand. Woh sabko roshni deta hain, mujhe bhi. Aur mere liye woh roshni hi kafi hain. Woh sab ka favaurite, sabka dost hain, sabse baathe karta hain, aur main nahin. Uski duniya meri duniya se bohut alag hain, aur main apni duniya mein hi sahi hoon. Hum dono ka duniya ek nahi hain aur nah hi ho sakti hain.” Bani said with a sad smile.

“Tum aur tumhare shayarane khayal! It’s out of my brain’s capacity to understand and decode your words!” Avni said rolling her eyes. “Ek I love you hi toh bolna tha, woh bhi nahi ho payega!”

“I love you? To whom are you planning to say?”

“Arrey tumhein!” Avni said exasperated and on realising who raised the question, she looked towards her side to see him.

Bani too turned to her side in shock to see Veeranshu standing there with a confused look which soon turned into shock hearing Avni’s words.

Bani glared at Avni and cursed herself. Feeling Bani’s glare on her, Avni tensed up and looked at Veeranshu nervously, giving him a nervous smile.

“Mera matlab hain, arrey tumhein nahi bolna hain, toh tumse kya matlab?” Avni said quickly.

“You’re planning to confess to Neil, aren’t you?” Veeranshu nudged her with a teasing smile making her look at him in shock.

“Me? And him? Why will I propose him?” She asked in shock, “Have you gone crazy? Why does everyone think we have something going on between us?” She asked in exasperation and walked out mumbling to herself leaving behind Bani and Veeranshu in an awkward situation.

“I didn’t mean to anger her..” Veeranshu said, a little tensed. “I was just teasing her.”

“It’s ok, she’ll come around. She’s always like that when it comes to him.” Bani said with a chuckle. “She doesn’t realise her feelings.”

“Neither does that duffer!” Veeranshu said shaking his head in disappointment.

“Yeah. Both are in the same boat.” Bani agreed.

“If it goes on like this they’ll never confess!” He said.

“They realise it sooner or later. And I’ll give them nice when they do.” She said.

“Please do.”

“Anyway, I’ll go check on her. Byee!”

“Bye.” Veeranshu replied with a smile, “Tell her I said sorry.”

“Will do.” Bani said as she walked away with a grin on her face.

“Bani!” Bani turned her head around in confusion hearing him call her again. “You’re coming to the party right?”

“Party?” Bani asked in confusion.

“Juhi’s birthday party. The party that’s there tonight.” He clarified. Before replying to his question, she carefully observed him. He looked a little nervous asking that question, as if he really wanted her to be there.

“Oh that, yeah I’ll be there along with Avni and Neil.” Bani replied with a smile.

“See you then!” He said with a smile before walking away leaving her in thoughts. Did her presence in the party actually matter to him?

Then shaking her stupid thoughts away she continues on her way to find Avni.

In the party

“If she hadn’t called so lovingly, I would’ve rather sat in my home reading a book or something.” Bani whined to herself seeing the crowd in the party. “How the hell is she even hosting so many people?”

“Hey!” She heard a familiar voice call out to her and she turned to her side to find Veeranshu Singhaniya standing a little away with a smile. “I thought you decided to not turn up.”

Bani just smiled at his comment wishing it was possible. But seeing him here, she realised coming here wasn’t such a bad idea after all. After all one smile of his had the power to wipe away all her complaints!

But her chain of thoughts broke when she felt his eyes on her, making her heart beat rapidly. She was wearing a coral pink gown which was simple from top to bottom, just like her. And her hair was left open.

“You look beautiful.” Veeranshu complimented and she felt her cheeks heat up. This was probably the first time he had said something like this to her.

“Thank you.” She managed to say with a smile. “You look really good too!” She complimented him seeing that he was wearing a suit.

She wasn’t sure if it was a blush that had crossed his face hearing her compliment but why would he blush? This wasn’t new to him. People would compliment him everyday right?

She looked around in search of Avni or Neil. Staying with Veeranshu only made her more conscious of herself.

“You’re looking for Avni?” He asked as if understanding her thoughts.

“Yeah, actually she asked me to meet her when I come.”

“She’s around that area. You want me to take you there?” He asked.

“No it’s okay. I’ll manage. Bye!” Bani replied quickly and walked away to the direction in which he had pointed. Being around him would make her to crazy. Whenever he was around, her heart would beat like, making it hard for her to focus on anything else. Him complimenting her still had its effect on her, if he was to help her now then her poor heart wouldn’t be able to manage it.
