Popular Television actress, Helly Shah recently made her debut at the Cannes red carpet 2022. Helly was at Cannes for the poster launch of her debut film, Kaya Palat. While the actress made heads turn with her outfit and impressive red carpet appearance, she was ‘disheartened’ at not being invited to the opening ceremony at Cannes 2022 Indian pavilion.
During a recent interview, Helly Shah was asked about her reaction to not being invited to the Indian Pavilion. She shared, “I was also not invited but had I been invited I would have been very very happy and proud to represent my country. Strangely, I was not disappointed. This was my first-ever appearance at the Cannes Film Festival and a different experience altogether. I honestly didn’t take it that way ‘Oh, I was not invited and I am really upset and disappointed’ but yes, if I’d gone to the Indian Pavilion on the first day, it would have been a very great feeling.”
Earlier in an interview with BT, Helly also talked about how Indian designers had refused to design for her Cannes debut. She said, “My manager approached a lot of designers when we started planning the Cannes trip. And when the time came, no one agreed to give me their outfits except a few designers. That is when we decided to approach international designers. I would have loved to wear Indian designers’ outfits at Cannes, that would have been a great feeling. But it didn’t turn out that way.”
