Rohit Chandel who came to Mumbai in 2015, sent out audition tapes of him performing the character of Bajirao Ballal to various production houses. Now after seven years he has bagged the very role. Rohit has been finalized to essay the role of grown-up Bajirao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal.
The actor talked about it in an interview with BT and shared, “Life has come full circle for me. My first audition was as Bajirao and today, I am going to portray the character in the show. Interestingly, I was given the same lines along with a few more during the audition for the show.”
Earlier Shehzada Dhami, who was last seen in Choti Sarrdaarni, was finalized for the role. When asked about it, Rohit said, “I don’t know why the other actor was replaced. It’s the makers’ prerogative when it comes to casting an actor.”
Rohit who was last seen in Chandragupta Maurya will be returning to TV after almost two years. He shared, “I stopped taking up TV shows because nothing exciting was being offered to me. I was creatively dissatisfied. However, I am excited about playing Bajirao. It’s a strong character with no limitations. It will offer me great scope to perform.”
“I had lost 10 kgs for an OTT project and now, I have to gain weight for my TV show. I am working hard on myself. I want the audience to accept me as Bajirao. I don’t believe in copying anyone. I will watch a few episodes to understand the graph of the character and the show. But that’s about it. I want to approach it my way and own it,” he concludes.
