Abhinav Shukla, who is currently seen in the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, recently opened up about being borderline dyslexic while performing an elimination stunt. Abhinav also talked about it on his social media handle. In a recent interview with BT the actor talked about it and shared, “I have been having this problem of remembering numbers and names for several years now, but the realization about being borderline dyslexic happened only two years back while I was discussing this problem of forgetting numbers, dates, and names with a friend of mine. He then told me about the learning disorder.”
He further adds, “I have saved my dad’s name as Dad 24 July as I can’t remember his birthday. Even today I get confused with English words like does-dose, weather-whether, etc. For the longest time, I thought this is normal. People would tell me that why do I keep forgetting the simplest details. So while doing my research work about dyslexia, I came to know that the borderlines signs of the disorders were very much there in me. I didn’t go for a medical diagnosis rather I was able to do a self-diagnosis for myself.”
“For the past two years, ever since I discovered being dyslexic, I now tell people that yes, I have a problem and I can not remember certain stuff. Thankfully, I am not in the field where I need to be good with numbers or names. Also, I have been very comfortable with the fact that there are certain things in which I am weak, and there are certain things where I am exceptional. Plus, I do certain mind exercises to work upon this disorder.” he said.
Talking about the post he shared and positive response from his fans and people from the industry Abhinav said, “I just wanted to tell everyone that I am comfortable with what I have and the kind of response the post got, I am overwhelmed, especially Divyanka Tripathi and Arjun Bijlani. My main reason for speaking about my condition was that after the KKK episode gets telecast, I didn’t want people to guess how much I am affected by the disorder and ask questions pertaining to it. So I thought to reveal it myself. As far as creating awareness about it is concerned, enough is being done towards it,”
