Actress Sreejita De recently shared in an interview with BTthat she and her German beau Michael Blohm Pape were actually planning to get married in 2020 but they postponed the plan due to the pandemic. The Nazar actress further shares, “Both Michael and I tested positive for COVID-19 last month. We always knew that we would support and love each other through all the ups and downs of life, and fighting this virus together has made our bond stronger. It made us reexamine our priorities.”
When asked how they met, she recalls, “We met in January 2019, when I had gone to a restaurant with my friends. Michael, too, happened to be there, and I found him really cute. So, I walked up to him and we exchanged numbers. However, it was only two months later that I sent him a text message and we started meeting. As they say, the rest is history.”
She further adds “Ever since we got engaged, my parents have been asking me about our marriage (laughs!),” she says, adding, “We had planned to tie the knot in December 2020, but postponed it due to the pandemic. Since the situation continues to be grim, we plan to get married next year. We will have an Indian shaadi early next year and a German wedding in summer.”
Sreejita, who is known for her role in TV shows like Uttaran and Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka, plans to relocate to Germany in a few years. “Michael and I have set up an import business and want to establish it while pursuing our respective careers. He shifted base to India for work in 2018 and plans to stay back for another five years. After that, we will move to Germany for good. Till then I want to spend quality time with my loved ones, do good work and eat a lot of Indian food,” she shares.
When asked about the one thing which made her fall in love with him, she said, “His nature and the way he treats me…I feel respected. I was not so confident about myself before meeting him,” she replies. The two also bond over music and their love for travel. “We love to travel and explore new places. We are attention seekers who love being pampered (laughs!),”
When asked about her parents take on her marriage and decision to move out of the country, she says, “Initially, my parents weren’t too happy with my choice, as they couldn’t come to terms with the fact that I would move to another country. But, they were very happy after meeting Michael and his parents. The biggest barrier is the language. Both our mothers aren’t fluent in English, and it’s a laugh riot to watch them together. They communicate via sign language and gestures.”
