Anand says I am not smart like Bhima but I will use my knowledge to make sure we are able to call off this wedding. Bala tells Manjula to forgive them if they fail in keeping this promise. We will apologize to Bhima too. Manjula cries thinking about Bhima.
Anand and Bala go in different directions to conduct a survey. We will ask all the married women these questions.
Everyone is seated for dinner. Bhimbai asks about Anand and Bala who enter just then. They share the results of their survey. All the women we spoke to got married at the age of Manjula. They told us the cons of marrying so early (shared in mute). Anand adds that they dint share even one advantage. Bala says you saw one little girl getting married and we met 25 such women today. Please stop this wedding after listening to their stories. She burns the papers. Marriage will happen as planned. This does not make a difference. You think I don’t understand? I don’t care. Eat if you want to or do as you please! Bala says we must break all the barriers to stop the wedding. Anand is worried of the consequences but Bala stays put. They promise each other.
Next morning, Meera and Ganga’s husband are making preps for the wedding. Meera speaks of dowry and how the demand is increasing with each passing year. I am positive that my brother wont take any dowry in his sons’ wedding. Bhimbai asks about Anand and Bala. Ganga’s husband tells her to find out about their whereabouts. They must be up to something. Bhimbai goes to check. Ganga’s husband remarks that all the boys in this house are revolutionary. Meera smiles.
Anand and Bala meet the groom’s family (parents and elder DIL) and request them to call off the wedding. No one is in favour of this marriage. They are taken aback after hearing that Manjula wants to study. They mock the boys who speak of logics and the values education instils in someone. They tells them to send their Baba if they want to cancel the wedding. Kids don’t make such decisions.
Bhimbai is headed to the groom’s house. She feels pain and stops for a moment. I wont give up so easily. I am stubborn like you. Your Baba are coming to pick you but I wont speak to you once you are home. You are troubling me unnecessarily. I am already worried. You are just adding to it. Don’t do this. You have instigated your brothers too! I know where they will be. I will teach them a lesson as soon as I find them.
The groom’s father rudely tells the kids to leave but then introduces them to his elder DIL first. She gives answers in English. The groom’s father says she is also educated but this does not help once you are married. Maybe your father forgot to teach you this so you came here to say all this. Go home and make preps for the wedding now. Bala and Anand leave quietly. Groom’s parents go inside but their DIL stands outside tensed.
The boys are headed back when they see Bhimbai coming from the other side. They get tensed. She breaks a branch and charges at them but then drops it seeing them scared. She reprimands them for supporting Bhima in this decision.
The SIL is grinding turmeric for the haldi function. The boys return home. The would-be groom goes to try his wedding dress when his SIL tells him everything that had happened earlier. No one cares if this wedding is consensual or not but you should know the truth. He asks her if Manjula’s brothers shared what she wants. She says who asks a girl these days. He looks down sadly. He goes out wedding the new kurta. They compliment him. He asks him if it is right to go ahead with the wedding when no one is in favour of it. His father ignores the question. He talks about the preps. His son offers to cancel the wedding but his father slaps him. Just do as I say. Don’t even think about going to that house. You will go there only to get married.
Bhimbai locks Bala and Anand in a room. I will send Bhima inside as soon as he returns. She tells Meer and Ganga’s husband what these 2 were up to. This is happening because they know how much we love them. You two will stay here till the wedding. You both are the most unlucky brothers in the world who wont be a part of any ritual in their sister’s wedding.
Precap: Bala rues that they have lost. Anand and Bala decide to get out of the room. They manage to open it but Ganga’s husband tries to block their way. Bala hits him on the head with his musical instrument.
