Their saghai was fixed the day after the talk with them. So, it took place.

The next day morning, Anika’s family (including herself) visited the Oberoi Mansion for the saghai.

Anika’s family came there bringing gifts, the paste for the tikka mark and a silver tray with a few grains of rice and saffron in a small silver bowl, 14 dried dates (chuharey) wrapped in silver foil and a coconut wrapped in gold leaf.

Anika’s father applies the mark to the Shivaay’s forehead, blesses him and gives him some money.

Anika’s family receives baskets of seven dried fruits: almonds, cashewnuts, dried dates, coconut pieces, raisins, dried apricots (khurman) and puffed lotus seeds (phoolmakhana).

As the marriage ceremony has to take place within 1 month, they have combined the tikka ceremony with Saghai.

First, Anika is draped with a chunni (stole), which is usually very ornate.

She is also presented with jewellery, which Pinky, her mother-in-law   and Priyanka, her sister-in-law help her wear.

A tiny dot of henna paste (mehndi) is applied to her palm for good luck, and the function is sealed with the exchange of rings.

Everyone present congratulates Shivika by feeding them sweets.

Shivika were posing for the photos. “They look so cute like made for each other”…….”They will change after marriage”…..These were the murmurs heard from the friends who came to the function.

They exchanged each other’s numbers, even though they know they will never call each other through phone.

This was been instructed by their parents-to call each other and talk for at least 1 hour a day. What they do is to-message each other telling what lies they should say.
