Scene 1
A woman gets ready in a bridal dress. She says wow, my jewelry, dress. What’s a married woman without her 16 stars (jewels)? She says I just need my 2 more singers. And then no one would be able to compete with my beauty in both worlds. Today I will get my 15th jewel, my maang tika. He’s coming. A man comes in. He drinks milk. She says kids drink milk, you’re an adult. He comes close to kiss her. He says you give my heart shocks. She gives him wine. He says your beauty makes me drunk. She makes him drink wine and comes close to him. She comes close to him. He sees her feet. The guy gets scared. He says your feet. Why are they reverse? She says witches have their feet reversed. She laughs. He screams in fear. She says I told you I’d make you drink endlessly. She makes him drink till he dies.
The chudail does tandav on him. He tries to run. She uses flashbacks. She was a child running with a man. He was trying to save her from other men in the village who wanted to burn her. The chudail says I sacrificed my 15th husband. Take it lord and give me my 15th beauty. Give me my 15th beauty. She gets her tika. She puts it on her head. She recalls running in the desert with her dad. Her dad fell and died. She ran alone. The chudail comes to the dessert. She changes the weather with her mang tika. A sandstorm comes. The men running with torches get stuck in it. Deya (the child) comes to her dad. She says baba give me your hand. He says go from here. Run. She says we will go together. He says to run and go to the city. Meet my brother. He will help you. She runs from there. Her dad says don’t let anyone see your locket, always hide it. She cries and says I return to help you and save you. He asks her to run.
Deya says enough of this game. I should focus on finding my 16th husband. He will give me the most powerful jewel, my sindur. It will make me the most powerful person.
Scene 2
A family does havan. The kid (Muksh) says my eyes are hurting. His dad says can we make him sit behind. The Maharaj says your family has a dark curse. It took three of your kids. This is important for Muksh’s safety.
The girl runs on the roads. She comes outside the haveli and says someone please save my dad. They will kill my dad. A servant opens the door. He says there’s a pooja going on. You can’t go inside. Mukesh comes outside. He sees the girl. He asks the servant to let him in. She hugs him and says thank you so much. Dad said your family will help me. My dad is stuck in the desert. He says I can go with you. The guard says you can’t go out. Deya throws sand at him and they run. Deya and Muksh come to the dessert. She looks for her dad. He gets stuck in the stand. The chudail sees Muskh. She sees a sign with him. She says this is the kundli I was waiting for. She smiles. He steps into her circle. Maharaj’s havan gets blown. He says there’s some dark curse around Muksh. Where is Muksh? They all look for him.
Deya pulls Muksh out of the chudail’s circle. She tries to him but Deya will pull his hand. The chudails fall on the ground. Deya’s dad gets drowned in the quicksand. She screams. Mukesh gives him a rod. He says pick him. Try to come out. He holds the rod and tries to come out. He comes out and hugs Deya. Deya hugs him and cries. Deya says he’s from the haveli where you sent me. The chudail gets up. She says what was with that girl that was more important than my power? She says but that child is 13 years young. I can wait for 13 years. I will wait to get married to my 16th husband.
Mukesh comes home. His parents hug him. Maharaj sees his nails blackened. Hari Singh meets Muksh’s mother. She says your mom did so many favors for us. Maharaj asks Muksh and Deya to come to the temple with them. Hari tells the villagers to kill his wife. He and his daughter ran from the village. He says please shelter me here. I will be your servant. Muksh’s dad says we can’t help everyone. Maharaj asks the kids what happened in the desert. They tell him he couldn’t move. Hari says it’s fine. He asks Deya to come so they can leave. Maharaj says don’t do this. That girl isn’t ordinary. she’s Muksh’s protector. She has a blessing. Muksh’s dad says stop all this. He says the dark curse has seen Muksh. we have to protect him. His mom sees his black nails. She gets worried. He says only that girl can save Muksh. Muksh’s mother begs her husband to let them stay. She stops Hari adn Deya. Mukesh says to Deya I will show you the haveli. They run around the ahveli. Mukesh and Deya come to the dessert. The chudail looks at them adn says their love will be eclipsed when I come into their lives after 13 years.
13 years later
Hari calls Deya and says I told you to come home before sunset. She says don’t worry. I can handle all chudails. He says don’t joke, come home fast. Deya meets kids at an orphanage. She gives him books. The kids get happy. She says these books will help them live a better life. Deya says in their heart I need to stop letting people believe in these superstitions so no other woman goes through what happened to my mother. She was burned by villagers because of this superstition. She recalls she used to talk to Muksh about her mother. They’d write her letters and throw planes in the air. Mukesh read her letter. They both pray that God keeps them together. She says it must be morning in America. He can’t start his day without listening to me. She calls him. She says did you party all night? He says I am Vishal. Mukesh is on the plane. He’s doing skydiving. She says what? He says Deya. I love you. He says I pray we always stay together. The chudail wakes up and says my wait is over.
