The Episode starts with the introduction of Ahilya Bai. A little girl is seeing in her village. She does her work. The men enter the temple and pray. A man Mankoji is seen taking pandit’s permission to go and get flowers for the puja. Pandit praises the man for getting the flowers walking barefoot, when he is a Patil. Mankoji says I had prayed here in temple to get a daughter, my wish is fulfilled, I want to serve the Lord. Pandit says you are the first one who is happy to get a daughter. Mankoji says yes, I m blessed to have such a daughter. Ahilya’s mum Sushila calls her out. She gets angry seeing the burnt roti on the tawa. She says we had to make bhog for puja, will I put this food for bhog.
Mankoji comes home. Sushila shows the burnt roti. She says Ahilya has left the roti on tawa and ran away. He says she is not at fault, she went to see the puja at temple. Sushila says she has to make food in her Sasural, she has to manage the household. He says we don’t know what’s written in her fate. She says she will manage her house after marriage, she belongs to a poor family, she won’t become a queen. Her sons come and greet. They say Ahilya went to the weavers’ place. Ahilya makes a pagdi for herself. The man says girls don’t wear it. She turns and smiles. Her parents come. She asks her dad to see the Pagdi she made. He compliments her. Sushila says she doesn’t look like a girl now. She asks her to remove the pagdi, she is a girl, she can’t get this respect. Ahilya says I have crafted Om on it, I had worn this pagdi, I will make such for my friends also. Mankoji asks how will you look different then. She says I don’t want to look different, I can’t be happy alone if they are sad, they will be happy if I share my things. He nods. Her brother say she is happy as if she has become a King.
The palace is shown. Khanderao gets disturbed by the dhol sound. He asks the servants to shut the window. Peshwa Bajirao’s Subedaar Malhar Rao Holkar is seen with the people. He prays to Shiv. Pandit says you will always be blessed. Malhar looks for his wife. His wife comes with the aarti stand in hand. She does the aarti and does tilak to Malhar. She says I have to serve you, as you serve Shiv every time. Pandit says Malhar and Khanderao will take the Paalki inside. Malhar says let Khanderao come, I will wait. Dwarka waits for Khanderao. The other ladies smile.
Sushila makes Ahilya wear the bangles. Mankoji asks the men to decorate the temple well. Sushila asks Ahilya to get ready on the puja day. Ahilya waves to her friends. Sushila asks where are you going. Ahilya runs with her friends. The boy says Renu has come from Sasural, maybe Ahilya had gone there to meet her. Mankoji asks Sushila not to worry, let Ahilya live with her own wish in her Maayka, she can forget herself, but she can never forget her Shiv ji, she will come on time. They smile.
Dwarka says I will go and see Khanderao, maybe he needs something. The lady says someone else can take the Paalki instead Khanderao. Malhar says yes, right, how long can we wait. He asks his nephew to come and lift the Paalki. Malhar says not everyone gets a chance to serve the Lord. His wife says I will just go and see. He does the rituals. He thinks the son who can’t do his duty, his absence doesn’t matter, what shall I do to get his life on right path. Ahilya is playing in the fields. The royal family does the puja in the temple. Khanderao is seen playing the dhol. Aai comes and asks why did you not come for puja. He says I got awake, I was coming, I wanted to play some music. She smiles and says you are a prince, you had a right to take Shiv ji palanquin and pray. He says what’s mine will be mine, even if I don’t go, how can anyone take my rights. She says things can change, you know your dad, he believes in principles, come for the puja, everyone is waiting. Ahilya and her friends come to meet a girl Renu. They play. Ahilya says no one has such beautiful hair in the village. She compliments Renu. Renu complains about her Sasubai. Renu says things change after marriage, you can’t play or laugh or talk aloud. Ahilya says if all this happens, then I will never get married. Renu asks her to go and tell this to Lord. Ahilya smiles and thinks my wish will be fulfilled too.
Aai gets Khanderao for the puja. Malhar sees him. He says the person who doesn’t know his responsibility, its no use to make him sit on a high position. Ahilya and her friends run in the fields. Renu asks her to run slow. She can’t run wearing the saree. Ahilya says I will make everything fine, just come. The girls come to a lake. Ahilya says everyone would be taking lotus flowers to temple, we will also take flowers and pray, I will pray for you, your Sasural understands you and lets you do your wishful. Renu asks really. Ahilya says yes, why not. She goes to pluck some lotus flowers. She gets scared of the insects. Sushila waits for her at the temple. Renu says leave it, we will go to the temple, Lord will understand that it was tough for us to pluck the lotus. Ahilya swims to the other side to get the lotus. Renu and the girls get worried. They shout for Ahilya. Ahilya sees the bugs over the flowers. The girls think she sank and cry for her. Ahilya comes out smiling, holding few lotus flowers in her hand.
