I had only dreamed about it and sometimes I doubt whether it is really happening to me.”

You have to enjoy the entire process and not crib. I am an example of that. In the olden days, there used to be a struggle which is not there. We have a short cut and there are platforms like Indian Idol which has given us a platform to showcase our talent and give us a chance to meet legends in person and get spotted by them and so many offers that have come to me so quickly is because of Indian Idol.”

Talking about the gap of five years between his earlier reality show and Indian Idol Pawandeep said, “I have always been a learner and will continue to be one. I was just 18 years old. It takes time to learn. Especially when you’re an 18 year old kid that too from a village. That phase only gave me time to learn how to sing and learn music and also how to behave and deal with people. And after that I decided I have to go to Indian Idol. But when I came for the audition, I was really scared as such fantastic singers were there and Sawai sang just before I went up on stage. I was worried and thought to myself that I don’t think I will get selected but bhagwan ki duwa se mera bhi theek thak ho gaya.”

When asked about the time he contracted Covid and was he scared at that time, he said, “I was not scared at all. The whole world is facing the same problem and therefore one need not get scared. If you get scared the disease affects you even more. I was prepared it can happen to me. It was tough but I had my music and did rest a lot.”
