Chapter 19
Precap: Siya’s school outing, Swara convinces Sanskar for this…

Morning, Sanskar’s study
Swara: (placing a cheque on his table) May I know what is this Mr. Maheshwari
Sanskar: (looking at her) this is a cheque
Swara: I know that very well but the thing I want to know is the amount on the cheque…
Sanskar: what’s wrong with the amount?
Swara: this is just double the amount I used to get…..
Sanskar: (surprised) you should be happy for that… you got an appraisal
Swara: but who gets almost 75 percent of increment just in two months of joining?
Sanskar: (to himself) god!! Really she is upset with that…. In my company people dying to get appraisal and here she is questioning why she is getting one….. she is weird
Swara: (to herself) Why he is not answering? Has he done this out of pity for me? No way I can’t accept it…
Sanskar: (reading her mind) this is not any sympathy to you…. you deserve it…. This is a reward of your performance…. So be happy….
Swara: (confused) But I can’t……
Sanskar: (interrupting her) Miss Bose I am not giving you an option…. I am not use to of listening a NO….no one says no to Sanskar Maheshwari
Swara: (to herself) is he threatening me or what?
Sanskar: (to himself) I can’t believe I am forcing her to accept an increment….. either she is a foolish girl or too true and innocent to be in this world…. Well I know she is not a fool….

Laksh was waiting for Ragini outside an exhibition hall for last 15 minutes….annoyed with her absence….

Laksh: (to himself) Why Ragini called me here, for an exhibition….. When she started enjoying art and all…. Moreover today is my Birthday and my wife didn’t even remember it….. what an awesome day for me
His patience paid off and Ragini came there wearing a beautiful smile….. “where are you Ragini since morning and why you called me here?” Laksh asked with a frown
Ragini: (patting his cheek) my dear husband just have little patience you will get all your answers, come we have to go inside…
Laksh followed her with a suspicious look on his face….. He was puzzled “what she is up to?”
As he entered he was speechless…. He was standing in the midst of a hall full of paintings, his paintings…so it was an exhibition of his work, his passion…. He looked at Ragini with teary eyes, who was all smiling to him… “Happy birthday my love” she whispered giving a side hug to him…. Then he noticed all family members were there…..
Siya: (jumped) happy birthday chachu….
Laksh: thanks dear….
After that all wished him including Swara…
Laksh: (cheerfully) thank you so much Ragini….this is the best Birthday ever….
Ragini: well I would love to take the whole credit but I am not that selfish…. So I can’t refute it was Swara’s idea, I just implemented it….
Laksh recalled the incident when he talked about his passion for painting with Swara… he got little nostalgic…. He immediately took Swara in a tight hug, expressing his gratitude…. All smiled looking at them but Sanskar was little uncomfortable looking them like that but then he remind himself that he is his brother and he can trust on him….
Swara: (breaking the hug) Laksh though the idea was mine but all the arrangements, everything was done by Ragini…. You should thank her…
Laksh: (with a wink) well I would do that but not here….. I will do it in my own way….
All laughed at his open and somewhat shameless declaration, making his wife embarrassed…. After the family time, he got busy in interacting with the guest who had nothing but high regard and admiration for his work…. Indeed this is the best day for him….
Sanskar: happy birthday once again brother….
Laksh: (smirk) thank god it’s my birthday today….otherwise the way you were looking at me when I was hugging Swara I thought you would kill me….
Sanskar: (hiding his nervousness) shut up lucky… I know you and Swara share a good friendship then why would I
Laksh: (teasing smile) well her name sounds good from your tongue… Miss Bose to Swara ha… not bad…..
Sanskar: (irritated) Can’t I call her Swara?
Laksh: off course you can and I think you should…. You know Miss Bose sounds so boring….
Sanskar was staring his annoying brother in disbelief….he was right it was his birthday otherwise he had it from him….

Night, Annapurna’s room

Swara: (at the door) May I come in Aunty….
Annapurna: (smiles) come Swara…come…
Annapurna signaled Swara to sit beside her
Swara: Anand told me you want to talk about something….what you want to talk Aunty?
Annapurna: (holding her hand) I want to thank you, Sanskar told me everything about PTA meeting and Siya’s unexpected performance…. I wanted to visit you personally even the same day but the pain in my joints wouldn’t allow me…. what can I do I am getting old… (She massaged her leg with a painful sigh)
Swara: It’s my work aunty and Siya is herself is a very bright child… I have given a little guidance to her that’s it….
Annapurna: I know dear but that little guidance of yours act miraculously for her…. not only academically but also in her life…. You became special for her and no doubt you are special dear…
With a pleased smile on her face she accepted her praise. Then something caught her attention, Swara looked at the photo frames placed at the side table containing the pictures of all family members….then her eyes fixed at the picture of the young couple, a handsome man and a beautiful lady together making a charming duo….
“This is my eldest son Adarsh and his wife Pareenita” I think you know about them, Annapurna stated looking at Swara’s puzzled face…
Swara: (guilty) No aunty… actually I have no intention to intrude in your personal life but…
Annapurna: (interrupting her) relax Swara…. it’s ok, Ragini asked me before talking to you… and believe me I have no problem, I trust you…. you have the right to know about Siya
Swara: (relieved) thanks aunty for trusting me…. by the way have you taken your medicine?
Annapurna: yes dear but seems like my body become resistant to the effect of medicines…
Swara: Then I have remedy for your pain…. Just give me 5 minutes…
Within no time she brought a small bowl filled with lukewarm oil, Annapurna was confused…
Annapurna: what is this Swara?
Swara: I will give you a magical massage which I used to give my dad and believe me you will forget about your pain…..
Annapurna: (hesitant) No dear…. You are not supposed to do this…. there are servants, they will do
Swara: (strict tone) when you can forcefully feed me like a mother, why can’t I do this like a daughter
Annapurna knew she couldn’t win over her…. with winning smile Swara started her therapy…. And this is how Sanskar caught them…
“I hope I am not disturbing you” they turned around to look at Sanskar
Annapurna: (smiled) No, come dear…
He came up to her and sat in front of her in a chair, looking worriedly at his mother “Mom, what happened to you?”
Annapurna: nothing, just little joint pain… but you need not to worry, Swara gave me a soothing massage and now I am feeling better…. (Looking at Swara) really dear it was awesome… thank you so much…. (in a teasing tone) See Sanskar this is the way to show your concern
Sanskar: (surprised) but mom you never asked me to do…. If you asked I would love to
Annapurna: I didn’t ask Swara also, but she herself felt
Sanskar: (turning to Swara) are you competing with me Miss Bose, first Siya now Mom
Swara annoyed with his statement gave an unhappy look…
Annapurna: (observing her) Swara he is just teasing you…please don’t mind
She gave a plastered smile to her, but deep down she wasn’t convince that he said all this just to tease her… “Is he really thinks I am snatching his beloved ones”
Annapurna: (sad smile) you know Swara, Ragini is just perfect as a daughter in law, she is more like a daughter to me, but we mother in laws are very greedy, always want more……I wish I could have a daughter in law like you….

This made both Swara and Sanskar to look at each other with astound eyes…. Horrified with the imagination of spending their lives with each other ignorant of the fact that one day destiny will make them to crave for each other…
