Ragini was hiding behind Aditi, while Vivaan and Sanskaar were glaring at her. You see, Ragini had to meet Sanskaar and Vivaan’s parents, but of course, being the crazy person she is, she started making all sorts of assumptions and each scenario ended with her Sanky being taken away from her. Sanskaar just scoffed at how dramatic she was being and suddenly picked her bridal style and took her inside. Ragini was trying to fight Sanskaar, while trying not to scream, because she was scared that the Maheshwaris will figure out that she’s here and then she loses Sanskaar forever. As if Sanskaar already knew what she was thinking, he mentally facepalmed himself because of his paranoid best friend.
Ragini was in awe, because of how beautiful Maheshwari mansion looked. Especially with all those pretty lights. Yup, you guessed it right. The Maheshwaris were having a ‘party’ of sorts, to celebrate Diwali. The decorations were still being set up and Sanskaar and Vivaan had offered to help their beloved parents before the party, code for introducing them to their future daughter in laws. Of course, Aditi told Sanskaar not to get too far ahead of himself, to which Sanskaar replied-” A man can dream and wish and hope and, you get the point, don’t you ?”
When Sanskaar’s parents, Ram and Priya Maheshwari (Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar, because I felt that they’d be perfect for this role) had already met Aditi before, so when they saw their younger son enter the house with a beautiful girl in his arms, they already knew what to expect. Aditi expected Ragini to be very awkward around them, but contrary to her expectations, Ragini was very comfortable around them. “Time really changes people I suppose”- she thought to herself.
All of them were having their lunch, while Ragini was still running around and trying to get things done, despite the fact that she had a splitting headache. Sanskaar had tried to drag her to the table for food, but Ragini just escaped somehow. Priya Maheshwari had had enough of it and held Ragini’s wrist and took her to the table. Ragini tried to protest, but Priya just gave her a glare after which Ragini just gulped and tried shoving food down her throat, but the nauseous feeling and headache didn’t make it really easy for her.
Priya noticed that Ragini was trying to force food down her food pipe. She just sighed and took the plate from Ragini’s hand and took her to the bed room. It was Sanskaar’s old room. Ragini would have probably taken tons of pictures and blackmailed Sanskaar, but she was too tired to do that. Ragini was trying to sleep but she felt like someone was piercing a hole in her head. Priya came back with a bowl of soup, a glass of water and a few medicines. Ragini just smiled at her weakly and said-“Thank you so much Aunty, but you didn’t have to go through all of this trouble.”
Priya shushed her and fed her. Ragini felt much better after having the soup. The headache was probably because she skipped breakfast and she also forgot to have dinner last night. Oops. She was worried that Sanky would kill her, but she snapped out of her thoughts when Priya just caressed her cheeks and said-“You should rest dear. And I don’t want any arguments. Think of it as your Mother’s orders.” Ragini’s mood darkened and she just held back her tears and said-“ I wouldn’t know Aunty. It’s probably the same as following Grandma’s orders though.”
Priya immediately realised what she had said wrong and smiled as she said-“Aren’t we a perfect match ? A mother who always wanted a daughter but has two sons. And a girl who doesn’t have a mother. Will you give me the opportunity of being your mother, and spoiling you with my love, being your best friend who would understand you and comfort you with her hugs,Ragu ?” Ragini smiled through her tears and hugged Priya, while the rest of the gang (Ram, Sanskaar, Vivaan and Aditi), were staring at them with a-‘what just happened’ look. Feeling left out, Ram tried to join the two of them, but his sons held him back and tried to lure him into the other room with food. Luckily, it worked like a charm.
Ram was munching on an apple while he spoke-“See, she says that she will be her best friend *munch* but, that’s not fair *munch* because *munch* daughters are their dad’s little princesses and *munch munch munch*–”
“JUST EAT DAD !”- His sons yelled in unison, while he pouted and made a fuss about being yelled at and kept ranting, that if he had a daughter, she would support him and all that jazz. The boys just rolled their eyes at their father and walked out of the room, but obviously that didn’t stop his rant.
“ Mummaaaaaaa !” – Ragini just sighed and hugged the 15 year old who was whining. Ragini tried not to say-‘I told you so’ when the girl went on and on about what had happened. The girl then started sobbing and Ragini just hugged her daughter and caressing her hair. The girl’s sobs soon died down. A mother’s hug has that magic, I suppose. No words had to be said, but the girl knew that her mother, her best friend, the person with whom she could share her deepest darkest secrets and her feelings always had her back.
Ragini then sat with her daughter as they watch a kdrama and had hot chocolate. The girl groaned and said-“Why can’t all boys be like the lead in this drama, Mom ?”
Ragini giggled and said-“I asked myself the same question. But, then I found your father.”
The girl pouted and said-“Stop rubbing it in my face Mom. I was there when you guys got married. You found love. But the guy I have a crush on is the biggest jerk and playboy and he hurt my feelings. I’m so done with boys, except for Kunj Mamu, Vivaan Mamu and Daadu.”
Ragini smiled at her daughter as she raised and eyebrow and said-“ What about your Dad ?”
The girl shoved some chips in her mouth and said-“ Duh, Mom. All guys are douchebags anyway.”
“ Hey ! Your dad’s a guy. Don’t insult all douchebags by saying such things.”
The girl frowned but then smiled and said-“I’ll find my Prince Charming some day.”
The girl frowned when her dad decided to make a surprise entrance. She just threw a handful of chips at him and said-“Girls night ! Go away ! Begone !”
The man just chuckled and started tickling her, while Ragini just smiled at them and texted her girls, and cancelling the girls night out, because her little princess was with her dad now. And her dad would cheer her up.
The girl yelled when she saw her dad flirting with her mom-“Stop Dad ! Wasn’t I scarred enough already ? I had to see you guys kiss at your wedding and now- this ! Ughhhh.” But, it was then that the girl understood that her dad was no Prince Charming. He was her mother’s Knight in shining armour who rescued her, not from the world but from herself. He rescued her mother from her fantasy, from the endless loop of sadness that she was putting herself through. She smiled at them being all lovey dovey just to annoy her and thought to herself-“This is what I want. This is what love is.”
