Ragini and her husband (part-1)

Guys, this is my new story. I have written this already in my blog. But, thought to share here.. with Raglak.
So key points to remember in this story…

1. This story is happening around 1947’s the early days of independence.
2. The whole story happens in a small village.
3. Laksh and Ragini here are village persons. You have to imagine Laksh as a village boy with khadi shirt and dothi. Ragini in simple olden days half saree. Visit any old hindi movies to imagine them. I recommend, ‘mother India’ old movie.

The story starts here….

“I don’t understand when you want to get married!” shouted Ragini’s mother Sumi.

“I think she is never going to listen t us” said Ragini’s father Shekar.

“Mother, Father! Don’t say like that. I will marry anyone for sure. But I’m just asking to leave it to my choice.”

Sumi and Shekar thought for a while and said to her, “we agree with your decision. But, you have to bring a boy within one week. Otherwise you will be married to the landlord’s son Sahil!”

Ragini thinks for much time what to do. She never loved anyone or she doesn’t have anyone at mind. She was ready to marry whomever their parents show. But she doesn’t like Sahil at all because of his bad character.

Ragini came out to just have a walk for some time. She comes across her childhood friend. She was married and she has a baby. She happened to see her other friend with her husband. They were happily walking. A group of ladies looked Ragini and started their comments,
“Hey! Sumi’s daughter! When do you get married? Do you know when you are born?” said one lady.
Other one said, “It has been 23 years, when you were born. All your friends were married and happily leading their life.”
Another one, “She wants to be burden to her parents. Nobody can change a stubborn girl like that!” told that one.

Ragini remained calm and walked away from there. She reached a river bank. On the tree she looks the pairs of birds which are in lovely mood.
‘I too want to get married. Have a nice husband. But that landlord’s son is too bad person. My parents don’t understand it. Now, I have to select a boy myself.’

Ragini sat on the bank and she was looking into the river. She saw her refection and thought, ‘who is going fill the place beside me?’
Suddenly, a boy stood beside her. She was amazed and looked at him.
“What Ragini? What are you doing here? Do you have any problem? If so, tell me! This Laksh, the helper of village will help you too.” He said and was drinking water.

Ragini: Laksh! Shall I ask you one thing? Why do you help people always? Don’t you think about yourself? I know that’s why everyone likes you.

Laksh was wiping his wet face with cloth and he said, “Being like that is happiness for me. There is no one for me. So, I consider this village as my family.”

Ragini remained calm.
Laksh: you seemed to be sad. I will help you if you want.

Ragini thought for a while.

Ragini: will you do anything? If you say ‘no’ when I ask?

Laksh: You know very well that I stand up on my promise. So! Ask me anything!

Ragini hesitates to ask.

“Except killing anyone…” he says again.

Then Ragini stood up and asked him. “Laksh, marry me!” Laksh was shocked at once with her words. She silently looked at him. “Save me from the landlord’s son.”
