The Next Day, Nandini was ready to leave for work. When she was about to exit,

(Manik) “Hey, Nandu. Leaving so early?”

(Nandini’s POV) I flinched for a moment. He was standing by the entrance. I couldn’t see him as I was coming out.

(Nandini) “Hello, Mr. Malhotra. Yes and please don’t call me Nandu. Call me Nandini. I am going out now. I need to see a friend.”

(Manik) “Its, Manik and not Mr. Malhotra. A friend in the city?”

(Nandini’s POV) Why is he suddenly getting all friendly. Must be the guiltiness he feels. I don’t like his sudden friendliness and I don’t like anyone sympathizing with me.

(Nandini snapped back) “I do have friends here. He is a real estate agent. He helped me find a house here before moving but the landlord let it out to someone else against the agreement we entered into. It is not like I really wanted to stay in a hotel. He has been helping me find a house again. I will be meeting him after work. So I may be a little late.”

(Manik) “Why did you miss yesterday’s dinner?”

(Nandini irritated by his behaviour) God! “I am sure Rishabh told you why.”

(Manik) “Ok. How come I never see you have breakfast here? I only see Rishabh.”

(Nandini) “I nab some street food on my way to work.”

(Manik) “Why can’t you eat here?”

Nandini thinks What is it with this question answer session? Getting all worried about me now!

(Nandini) “Listen, Mr. Malhotra,”

(Manik) “Manik”

(Nandini) “MR. MALHOTRA, we will be moving out next week. So you don’t have to bother about the race or the cooking. You don’t have to be out of your way to be so courteous to me. Good Day.”

(Manik) “What about dinner tonight?” Why Do You Care?

(Nandini) “Luke has been asking me out for dinner for a while now. I might as well eat with him. Rishabh won’t mind it, at least, till we get a place to live. Good day.”

(Manik’s POV) Seeing her leave in such hurry, kind of annoyed me. Why is it that I feel annoyed or disturbed by her actions? Here I was trying to be amicable with her and not to create a sense of hatred since we will be meeting in office; she brushes me off and tells me to mind my business.

(Manik) “Damn.”

(Madhyam) “OMG, I hear a swearing word from Manik’s mouth. Has the world come to an end?”

He said that he would pick me up for a meeting in the Malhotra headquarters.

(Manik) “It is not funny.”

(Madhyam) “Why not? You have never shown interest in girls in your 25 years of life though they keep confessing to you. You reject them all cold heartedly, how did this catch your interest?”

(Manik) “What? Do I look interested?”

(Madhyam) “Of course, you do. Fall in love, Manik. It will be fun teasing you about it.”

(Manik’s POV) Fall in love? Ridiculous! With her? Unimaginable! She is so damn arrogant and never lets her guard down, even if I want to talk with her. I really don’t care if she hates me.

(Manik to Madhyam) “Fall in love? Have you gone mad? Get to work already. How long have you been here?”

(Madhyam) “Just heard about her date tonight. Not gonna do anything about it?”

(Manik’s POV) He looked at me expectantly. What! What can I do if she has a date? What do you want me to do?

(Manik) “Oh, shut it! Maybe she was right, I was being polite. Go to work.”

(Nandini’s POV) That night, I still haven’t gotten my house. I threw my bag on the bed and fell back. Is finding a house with office so difficult? So tired. Rishu’s head suddenly popped up in front of me.

(Rishabh) “Di, is it true we are leaving next week?” He looked anxious.

(Nadini) “Yes. How did you know?”

(Rishabh) “Are you scared of the race and cooking?”

(Nandini) “What In The World?” I got up.

(Rishabh) “Manik was telling that you are leaving, because you are scared of not being able to be Approved.”

(Nandini) “He… What? Anyway, it’s not like I am scared. I just want to leave this place.”

(Rishabh) “But I like it here. It’s closer to school also.”

(Nandini) “Rishabh….”

(Nandini’s POV) Sometimes, I really hate Rishabh being as stubborn as I am.

(Rishabh) “Please sis. Let us stay here for just two more weeks. Till my exams of this term are over, please?”

(Nandini’s POV) It is true that the school is nearer. If I move to Cabir’s place or ours, it will take lot of time for Rishabh to travel.

(Nandini) “Ok then. But only till your exams are over. Now, it means I need to race Tomorrow. Where are your car keys?”

(Rishabh) “With Manik. I gave it back the day we came here.”

(Nandini’s POV) Surprising. He loves to drive and gave back the key the day we came here?

(Nandini) “Yes. You told me this before. How come? It is not like you to give it back.”

(Rishabh) “You didn’t like it. So, I thought I might return it back.”

I couldn’t help but smile. Silly boy.

(Nandini) “Fine. Rishabh”

(Rishabh) “Ok. Good night Didi.”

(Nandini) “Good night, Rishabh.”

He kissed me on my forehead and went back to his room. I went to Malhotra’s room to get the keys.
