“OH MY GOD…Mahi..” I cheer in happiness, merriment , enchantment and in a bliss of sanctity. “No..no..it’s fun” she yells in exhilaration while my heart gets the warmth seeing her gracious smile. “Oh God..Mahi..please” I laugh as she drives more rashly , daringly, passionately, expeditiously, frantically , excitedly and much much more.
“Sorry, love. But I can’t…” she yells on top of her lungs, her hair moving in the backward direction as the strong wind hits our faces. “babe, you don’t have a license too. And you asked for 5 minutes, so stop the car” I tell her but she shakes her head in a no. “Just 5 more minutes” she pleads, her eyes glittering and beaming like an innocent child.
“Mahi…” I grumble while she chuckles. “Pretty please” she says, a wide smile on her lips, whilst she gives me a peck on my cheek. “concentrate..” I tell her while she nods. “Ooopss..” she apologizes due to taking a rash turn. “Mahi..enough, love” I tell her while she smiles at me and drives more rashly.
“That’s why I love you so much” she says until my car hits another one…
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I lie on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of my body with monster force. It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood’s mass stamping my body farther and farther into the ground.
My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. My mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how I felt. I tried to yell but my voice was unheard. All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.
With my eyes sealed tight, I could feel my body float off the seat of the car.
I opened my eyes to see the black road in the distance above me. I could feel the cold ground on the side of my body. I couldn’t move and couldn’t understand why. It had happened so quickly. I lay there until my mind comprehended what had happened. I was wedged between the hood of the car and the dirt. The car rustled, every movement of the car pierced my body.
“Mahi…” I mumble, unless my vision becomes black.
CHAPTER 1~ MEMORIES
1 YEAR LATER…
The third maddening buzz of my alarm woke me as I groggily slid out of bed to the shower. It was the start of another routine morning, or so I thought. I stand under the shower as the water runs through my body. The only way to get rid of my pain is to stand under the shower.
I change into black jeans paired up with a blue button up shirt. I slid my feet into my shoes, tucking my phone into my pocket. I open the door of my room, as the atmosphere of the mansion hits me. Huh! Royal life. People think that being born into a royal family is a luck. Well, I don’t think so.
I ramble across the corridors making my way towards the breakfast table. “Good morning, love” Mom greets me while I freeze. LOVE, huh!. According to the world, love is a really pious relation. Well, wrong. In my speculation, it’s nothing but deception.
My thoughts comes to an end as mom clears her throat, smiling at me. I want to run away, run away far from all there joyous and happy faces surrounding me. I take a seat , settling myself. My dad’s eyes bore into me as I roll my eyes at him. I don’t get it, what’s his problem. Whatever it is , I’m not interested.
“Sir..” the cook says, as he places the pancakes in front of me . I smelled the pancakes before my other senses registered their presence. The homey smell of frying butter reached my nostrils and assaulted my brain with mouthwatering images of fluffy, warm goodness
After slathering the still steaming treat with liquid sugar, I gingerly cut off a bite and lifted it towards my mouth.
The first flavor to unfold on my tongue was the sweetness of the syrup, quickly followed by the delicate, buttery flavor of the pancake itself. The coolness of the syrup and heat of the pancake complemented one another perfectly and only served to bring out the subtle flavor of the pancake itself. I scooped up another bite to replace the one which was quickly dissolving in my mouth, and then another. Before I knew it, all that remained on my plate was dribbles of syrup.
My appreciation for the pancakes comes to and end as mom pops a question. “Did you fulfilled all the forms for the University?” she asks, as she takes a sip from her coffee. “Yes, I did” I reply to her. “Good…Sanskaar?” she asks, a hope beaming in her eyes. “Yes, mom?” I ask, trying to ponder over her to be asked question.
“It’s been an year…and now you are going to start a whole new life. Why can’t you forget it and enjoy your upcoming time at the University?” she asks, a phase of sadness covering her face. I let out a huge sigh, closing my eyes. “Mom…I have told you tha-“ I begin but she cuts me off.
“At least a try?” she asks, her eyes glittering. “Okay..” I mutter while a wide smile spreads across her face.
“Oh god..oh god..oh god” I mumble continuously , madly searching for the forms. “What happened?” a sweet inflection hits my ears while I turn around. “Mom..” I growl, frustrated. “will you please do the honour and tell me?” mom says bowing down.
Whilst I burst into a fit of laughter. “Oh mom…” I say, giving her a bone crushing hug. “Now..my dramatic daughter..tell me what happened?” she asks, arching an eyebrow. “I can’t find my forms, mom” I tell her bleakness covering my face. “Swara..they are on the couch” mom says, handing over me the forms.
“Oh look. For the first time in like decades, your room is cleaned” mom says happily and a mischievous grin on her face. I take a look at my room, and hell yes, it’s clean like after decades. My room is really simple, with the design of blue and white. (HERE’S THE LINK TO THE ROOM)
Shoving my thoughts away, I concentrate back on mom. “Okay..now I have to get ready..so…bye..” I tell her, waving her bye. I quickly take a shower, changing into a read loose shirt paired up with my denim jeans. Wearing my combat boots, I make my way downstairs for breakfast.
“Good morning” dad greets me as I greet him back. “All done?” he asks, a caring tone in his voice. “Yup” I reply, pushing a spoon full of cereal in my mouth. “Henry will leave you to university. I’ll be going late” dad says while I nodded.
I sit in the car as I greet uncle Henry. Uncle Henry has been working for us since I was like not in even born. Huh! Note the sarcasm. Anyways, he flashes a smile to me while we both head towards the University of England. It’s been my dream to study in this university. My dad is the principal of University of England but I got admission for my own merit. Duh! I’m straight A student.
Well, I can never stop complimenting people. My thoughts are crushed as uncle Henry stops the car. “thanks, uncle Henry. See you” I greet him as I stand in front of my dream university.
I was about to enter as someone swirls me around. “Oh my God! You scared me to death, Natasha” I complain, my heartbeat breaking the records. She giggles, pulling me for a bear hug. “I have missed you” she mumbles. “It’s been a day we didn’t met” I correct her while she grins sheepishly. “Whatever. Come let’s begin and enjoy the best part of life” she says, pulling me inside.
Oh sorry, Natasha is my best friend. We have been friends with each other like since birth. I have two other best friends, and God knows where they are. Natasha is wearing a white tank top paired up with black skinny jeans and her heeled combat boots.
We make our way inside, God knows how this university is gonna change my life…
